  1. More $ in Apps then Cable Provider's

I think everyone try to use HBO go apps and many others and wonder why can I just use this with out cable provider. People are moving away from cable and that's why Netflix and Hulu are becoming big $7.99 a month. why pay $100 or more a month if you watch
one or two channels? If these tv Stations move away from their contracts from Direct Tv, Dish, or any oher cable provider and go full on apps on the internet they will bank.. My parents were getting rid of their direct tv and was willing to buy two xbox one's
if some apps like MTV, Brovo and HBO didn't need to have cable provider to watch things on them with the apps. If you have Caable or Satelight and only watch 2 or 3 channels on it, do you wonder why you cant just pay for those couple of channels with out the
extra channels for $60-$100 or more a month while Netflix is just $7.99? Why cant we just buy apps of those channels? wouldn't they bank money on that more when people are leaving the cable companies now?

    :)

    Xbox TV/Cable HDMI Question

Just to chime in and reiterate what the other guys were saying:

    1. You cannot change channels on your cable box without Kinect. The Kinect acts as an IR blaster, sending the channel-change, or other commands to your cable box. You can still use your existing cable remote to control your cable box, but the OneGuide on
the Xbox won't know that you changed the channel, since you didn't change it from the Xbox. Meaning, if you pull up the OneGuide, it won't show your current channel. Again, if you're using your cable provider's guide and the cable provider's remote, this won't
be a major issue. When using the Xbox Controller to change channels, it still tells the Xbox to send the signal using the Kinect, so you still wouldn't be able to change channels using your Xbox controller without the Kinect.

    2. You can still access your recorded shows using your cable provider's remote. Essentially, the cable box will work exactly as if it was plugged into your TV, except now it's being passed through the Xbox. You won't lose any functionality. The negative
(if you want to call it that) is that the Xbox has to be on to watch TV. The positive is that you can multitask while watching TV (using other apps, or snapping apps while watching), you also free an HDMI port on your TV/AV receiver and you no longer have
to switch inputs to watch TV or play games as they're both on the same input now.

    3. You don't need a different, or additional HDMI port on your cable box. All that would change on your setup is instead of plugging the HDMI cable into your TV, you'd plug it into the Xbox. The Xbox has an HDMI input and HDMI output. The input is where
it gets the TV signal (from your cable box HDMI) and the output is what plugs into your TV or AV receiver.

To summarize, you won't need any new hardware. You simply need to plug the cable box HDMI into your Xbox, plug your Xbox HDMI into your TV and you're set. Then just go to the TV app on the Xbox when you want to watch TV, followed by using your cable provider's
remote to control the cable box as you have in the past.

    Hopefully that clears everything up!

Is NFL app on xbox one free?

I am not sure aboutt he gold requirements, but I am pretty sure when you use the full access of the app it will ask you what your cable provider is, kinda like the HBO go app. At least thats how it was the last time I used it in 2014.

Newsflash dude. HBO GO and Showtime Anytime already plan to release their apps as stand alone not being tied to a cable subscription. The Until Disney/ESPN agrees to offer their channels standalone online then Cable/Satellite will never go under. The
CEO of Disney/ESPN has already stated that he has no interest in doing this so you will always have to have cable for something if you watch something beyond basic channels. This is especially true for sports.

The new sling app coming to Xbox One will have a block of channels (ESPN, TNT, TBS, and others) for $20 a month. Also HBO and Showtime will offer standalone subs in the near future.

In the UK our main satellite tv provider already do this. And it works out a very good deal indeed. So much so that I subscribe to that and have cable TV too. Best of both worlds. All the channels I don't get on cable I get via the nowtv app.

@Drizz -- The ESPN app is more like the HBOGo app. Your internet provider needs to have the rights to host ESPN3 content. I have internet/cable through a local cable company and they offer ESPN3, but not HBOGo... so by that, I would assume ESPN3 is more
readily available to the general public.
