Monthly system Updates

system update is checked and power mode instant on is checked but, the system update does not update on it's own. I have to click start update every month and wait till it is downloaded and then installed before i can watch tv or play games.

Xbox One

and it will only get better from here as the system continues to receive monthly updates and the game library continues to grow.

The Xbox One: 1 year later

Honestly, I think the Xbox One has been doing great, It is nearly one year old. I still have my standard launch xbox one with 8 games. I'm loving the monthly updates the system is getting and the amount of exclusive content we have is phenomenal.

Try doing a hard reset on your console. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
Once it is back up and operational make sure all the settings are correct. Let us know if this helps. Good Luck!

System updates are fairly frequent (Monthly~) if you want anything specific keep an eye on Twitter and the forums.

There is usually an xbox one system update that either adds new features or fixes bugs. For individual games there can be monthly or even weekly updates depending on how much the developers support the game and sometimes there can even be daily updates
for a game. Those are somewhat rare and are small in size.
