  1. Monitoring the hours of Children on the Xbox...

So I've watched the long videos on YouTube on how to add children on account.microsoft.com. It was laborious, but I managed to do it. Naively, I thought the site would then talk to the console and would prompt my 12 year old for a log-in. Not the case.

Here's the story... I set up our first Xbox with me as the only gamer tag/avatar/log-in. Then my kids got old enough to play certain games and used MY log-in/gamer tag for a while. NOW, they have points or progress in games that they don't want to give up.
So I thought, perhaps I can give them MY gamer tag/log-in and create a new administrator account and remove those rights from the original log-in so that I can get reports on their usage, limit time via account.microsoft.com.

So... what are my options? I'd LIKE to do it the 'right' way... I've got the kids setup on the MS site with hours limited etc, but I apparently need to repeat the exercise on the console somehow. We just can't have them playing all day (pandemic and all),
and I'd rather not go 'old school' and hand out controllers and watch the clock manually.

Any thoughts? I appreciate it... this is a bear to get in place. Sigh.

    :)

    Hello Elliot,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you are wanting to restrict your children's activity. Unfortunately, you are unable to restrict your account as it is an adult account. The only way to do this, is to create child accounts under your main
account. Then you can also set the home console on your main account so they can share the live and games. Yes this does mean they need to start fresh on games. Here is a few links that will help you.

Thanks Brad... so it sounds like there's not really a way to automate usage for my kids, AND enable them to keep their game progress, point etc... is that right? I guess one alternative could be to install a smart outlet where the console(s) are plugged
in and control it THAT way. 'click' Ha ha.

Thanks... if anyone has any related tips, I'd appreciate the input!
