    Monitor with 120hz and VRR

I have a 144hz, freesync 1080p monitor but cant get it working properly with my Xbox One X.

If I plug it in and have the display set to auto-detect then it allows me to tick Allow variable refresh rate but there is no option to select 120hz. The only way I have found is changing the overide dropdown from auto-detect to HDMI which then allows me
to choose 120hz refresh rate but then Allow variable refresh rate is greyed out.

Is there something else I need to do?

    Thanks in advance

    :)

Does your monitor support both VRR and 120Hz on Xbox? I have read that only specfic monitors out there support both enabled. For awhile the VRR was only supported at 60Hz but there are some monitors now that will allow you to enable both VRR and 120Hz.

How to enable variable refresh rate?

May I also point out that to enable VRR (Variable Refresh rate), you also need VRR capable TV or monitor.

VRR works on both 60Hz and 120Hz.

Will I be able to play on my Series X at 1080p 120fps VRR with this monitor?

it will work fine including vrr, you don't need hdmi 2.0/2.1 for 1080p 120hz vrr.

that monitor is also tested to work with series x and ps5.

    Hi there Matt,

Thanks for the update on the issue. Since you have tried changing the settings on the Xbox and the issue persisting, I recommend to try
doing a soft factory reset of the console, Reset and keep games
and apps to help reset the operating system. Please note before doing this troubleshooting step, make sure to know your email and passwords for your Xbox profiles and stable internet connection.

Try this out and let us know the results.
