    Monitor or TV?

Alright, please read through, I already made my decision... Also, as for Toshiba, there is nothing wrong with them.

    Monitor or TV?

I would go with the monitors. I currently use a 21.5" Samsung monitor with a few sound options on my 360 and I can say that I always like gaming on a monitor better than using a TV. Although for LAN parties when people cram 4 players on a split screen with
everyone sitting around eating doritos and pizza is always a fun time. Nonetheless, monitor is the way to go monitor or tv :)

Sony KDL40EX720. It has 4 HDMI ports 2 USB ports Ethernet port wi-fi 3D capable Full HDTV 1080p and no noticeable input lag and a good refresh rate. Some peps may prefer monitors maybe because they have limited space. I prefer an HDTV or "smart TV" which
is what my KDL40EX720 is. and it's thin and weighs 10kg max including with the stand. Here's a rhetorical question now compare the ports on an HDTV like the one I mentioned and tell me how it compares to a monitor which just displays and you may need additional
sound equipment like speakers? I find TV's more handy.

  6. I used to use an Acer GD245HQ 120hz 3D monitor. The response time on that compared to a TV was like the difference between night and day. You can get decent sized monitors nowadays.

You would need additional sound equipment, like an AV system or headphones, etc, but to be honest gaming on standard TV speakers just sounds tinny in comparison to a good set of headphones or AV system anyway.

Really it boils down to what you need the display device for. If you want it purely for gaming I would suggest going for a monitor, as they tend to be cheaper than decent HDTV's, and getting a decent sound system with the extra cash.

However if it's the centre of your living room then I think most people here would go for a HDTV of a decent size. I'd still recommend some form of sound system though.

You could also look into a projector as well.

I have always used a monitor for my console, saves me sharing the TV meaning i can just jump on whenever i want, i just use my creative 5.1 set of speakers off my pc and in regards to all the ports, i just dont need them my xbox is pretty much every device
i'd connect via hdmi in one and any external media i just stream from my phone thanks to allshare.

I'm happy to use an HDTV. I too have to admit the 2x 10W speakers on HDTV's DO produce a rather TINNY sound but my Turtle Beach X42's compensate for that and the sound is, well, OK. OMG you should of heard my HDTV BEFORE they released the Xbox 1 update which
brought out Dolby Support. Uncompressed Stereo setting on your Xbox 1 console sounds, how can I put it... kind of unbearable on an HDTV's 2x 10W speakers. My parents who used a standard definition TV 4:3 even say the 10W speakers on a 29' TV are better than
the ones you get on a LED HDTV cuz manufacturers have a significantly limited amount of space to cram speakers to look not so out-of-place on thin HDTVs. You CAN get thin LED HDTV's instead of just a monitor and having to hook up additional sound equipment.
It's down to personal preference. Advantages with TV's are you can get national TV, many are smart TV's, and it has built in speakers. Advantages with Monitors they can be cheaper but you'll need additional audio equipment but are good for peps who live/game
in smaller houses/bedrooms like in the UK.

Go for something without all of those "features" as that creates major input lag. i'm using a LG monitor and it works great wayyyyyyyyy better than my Samsung HDTV.

These days the disadvantages to using a TV are very slight (but yet come with many advantages). I've seen people buy TVs for their PC monitors and get by just fine. The only difference I've seen that might prevent me from buying a TV (I actually faced this
choice last year) is how the TV works (or doesn't) with the 'turn off the display' function, or sleep functions. TVs aren't designed around this, so they often need powered on or off manually. Monitors can just be left 'on' and forgotten about.

  12. You can set the Xbox One to turn the TV on or off with the Xbox One when it powers up or powers down. It does this with the Kinects IR blaster. Works for AV equipment too. It works for the majority of compatible TV and AV equipment.

Its depends on how much room / space and budget one has,

    for an Xbox One X,

Ideally its worth getting a 4K screen, for a TV i would say anything beyond 32", and a Monitor, anything beyond 27",

    I myself have a Samsung 50" 4K HDR TV, and a Asus 27" 4K Monitor,

I use my TV for 4K movies and the Monitor for 4K gaming on.

    Hi Gamer

It all depends on your budget and where you plan to set up for gaming

I prefer a TV. I have a 50" Samsung UHD since I have a large living room so a big TV is a better option

Most of my gaming buddies have 27" gaming monitors(Also 4K)

Many gamers prefer the 34" for ultimate gaming
