  1. Monitor not running 120 fps although setting is on and the monitor is 180hz

I recently bought an MSI g225f monitor which is capable of 1080p 180hz . i’ve enabled the corresponding settings on both the monitor and xbox but it still says it’s running 60fps. i’ve done the video fidelity settings and after doing so it still says 60fps and when i got out and back into the general tv and display settings the refresh rate option goes away and it’s till in 60. i have the appropriate hdmi cable too. please help urgently

    :)

Can xbox one s run fortnite 120fps

I'm getting a 120 hz monitor and I'm wondering if I can run 120 hz on my xbox one s fortnite. It gives me the option in my settings on my xbox one s but my TV doesn't support 120 hz so I'm buying a monitor. I don't want to buy the

Monitor if I can't run 120hz. And does fortnite have a fps cap where I can't run 120hz?

    1440 @120hz or 4K HDR @60hz

The game itself also has to be enable from the devs to run at 120 FPS. I don’t know of any AAA games on XOX that are able to run at 1440p 120 FPS.
Nope none, the monitor can say 120 but if its not in 4k its locked at 30

    120 fps on 144hz monitor?

    Hi,

Not 'any monitor' no. They need to be be pretty much exactly 120Hz over HDMI. Forget the other refresh rates, 144Hz and beyond are PC refresh rates for PC connected via Display Port. Just because a display says 144Hz, 166Hz or whatever, doesn't mean it will support 120Hz when connected to an Xbox Series X.

However, monitor's have become really popular for console owners since the latest machines launched in 2020. There are loads of reviews of monitors that have been proven to work on Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Also, YouTube is a great source of reviews and recommendations for displays for the Xbox Series X|S console. Ignore the reviews that are for PC unless they specifically show the monitor working on a console.

Lastly, bear in mind that unlike TV's, most monitors do not have built in speakers. To achieve sound without headphones will require you to connect a set of PC speakers via the monitors built in 3.5mm headphone jack.
