    Hi guys,

    I am starting up a YouTube channel in which I am uploading playthrough's etc. I wanted to know Microsoft's stance on monetising these videos? I have contacted Live Chat and they have helped as much as they can, but as it is not their department they have
    advised that I contact the community on the forums as there must be other gamers who have done this!

    I know with publisher like EA I had to contact and they provided permission to monetise their content, but I am not sure how Microsoft feel about monetisation? I have been doing Forza playthrough's and plan on doing Halo ones once 5 is released.

    Can anyone shed any light on if I am allowed to monetise my YouTube videos of Microsoft published content?

    Monetising Gears of War 3 videos ?

    Hey guys.

    I'm asking everywhere about this question. Now that Microsoft acquired the right of the franchise, is YT monetisation of Gears of War content allowed ? The game does not appear in their developper rules ( http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/developer/rules ),
    so I don't know.

    All games should be free

    That would never happen, If the game is heavily monetised with Loot Boxes and other content like Gated Areas then fine because Developers need to make money.

    Several free to play games have the right balance for example Warframe and Path of Exile

    I think this will depend on the developer depending on the game but I don't think anyone here would be qualified to give you such legal advice.

    Whilst consoles such as the Xbox One support streaming to YouTube and Twitch for example, (Twitch supports a type of monetisation if you're getting a lot of views), I think the best thing to do would be to be cautious and not set any gaming videos up for
    monetisation, and if you receive a "cease and desist" or "take down" email from the game developer to comply with it in a timely fashion.

    Please also be sure to read the copyright information regarding the specific game, some of which may have contact information included which you can contact.

    M.S. double Standards.

    All content, including advertising content, is provided by YouTube NOT Microsoft. Google owns YouTube, NOT Microsoft. So I would complain to Google. Google may taylor ads to what you've recently watched on YouTube or something. So if you're watching xx stuff
    you may get xx stuff as an advert.
