Molyneux: Xbox One Without Kinect Is Inevitable

Tedi, I can understand the friend situation. Virtually all of my real-life friends don't prefer the Xbox One (in fact most don't prefer ANY console), but I don't let that stop me from getting the console I prefer. Besides, there's plenty of people to play
with online despite your actual friends regardless of which console is chosen.

As for the Kinect and why MS did it, I think it was purely a roll of the proverbial dice (with a little bit of prior research on their end to increase the odds in their favor).

 

Soldier, in regards to your post, there are many reasons, many of which you've mentioned in your own post. Sometimes there is more than one. It's also different for every single person; some have their reasons and some of those reasons are illogical, but
they are their reasons nonetheless.

 

Exactly, you're the first to say it, I also think they took a chance, and I'm not sure it was the right one, time will tell if it was right. I actually think they should have delayed the launch after the backlash at E3, the 360 launched way before the PS3
and it caught up, they changed so much, it should have been re-done.

 

Yeah i'm just trying to say i can see MS trying to address it and try to persuade people its a good thing or change things to make it more appealing rather than outright just think yeah shelve that.

I hated the idea of it, i was all up on the NSA bandwagon it was my first literal comment to my friend when i seen the E3, i used to have to demo Kinect 1 to customers in tescos and it was terrible, watching it glitch out when people walked by, watch it
struggle in sunny situations or go nuts when you got within 6ft used to be very embarrassing trying to explain it yet i feel this kinect is so much more superior, better tracking, better response, the voice still needs tweaking but it works very well and i
am getting a bit more wider with commands i use now i have my toe in the water so to speak, i feel i could demo this one with far more confidence than i ever could kinect 1.

But i spose we gotta remember the xbox one while being a gaming console has opened up it's target market and i guess its trying to get some of that wii (family kind of gaming) type of appeal going on, you don't have to leave your son locked away with the
console because it only has games, you can put this in your living room and have your whole family use it to, weather it be tv, gaming, younger children gaming, fitness or just watching youtube and you don't even need to bother with the controller to do it
just speak to it.

if they split it then mothers are gonna be picking up the stand alone console mostly out of ignorance as to what kinect could offer them aswell as there child i don't think it would suit what they want as a whole package

A very good question lol.

From what I read coming out of Microsoft before and after the console was launched is they have big plans for Kinect and for it to truly get the best chance, more developers getting on board they wanted it next to every Xbox One which I totally understand
from this point of view.

The trouble is by doing this they have pushed a lot of gamers like yourself away, I totally appreciate there's people like you that have no interest in it. I think now though there are sort of in a situation where their dammed if they do, dammed if they
don't type thing.

I mean if they decide to leave it in, it will please someone like me because in my opinion it's still a case of the more out there the better chance it stands, I know some have said .. "Well it's not done much yet" but it's only been out 4 months so we need
to give it time, I'm not saying it will succeed but I'm willing to give it some time.

How do they get the gamers back like you though? Ok they could say drop the price another £100, undercut their rival so would these please everyone? No doubt some people that have no interest in Kinect would take the plunge but my bet is you would get others
with the attitude, "Well if they dropped the Kinect also the price could be even lower" ... I don't envy Microsoft lol

I do agree with what's been said above, "they have taken a chance" even though some have wrote Xbox One/Kinect off completely ( this mainly from the fanboys ) I think it's way too early to see if the chance has paid off.

 

I got the One Lofty, it applies to most of my friends though, good post.

 

I am half tempted to just quote lofty and use that as my post, but that would just be lazy of me lol. I agree the points made there. They gambled and took risk, they knew it wouldn't be for everyone and I am sure they have things to sweeten the pot (so to
speak) coming up. Maybe even E3 may shed light on an announcement or 2 that could turn some heads.

I think E3 is going to throw up a few surprises, I really do but lets not forget, surprises don't please everyone lol

 

No need to apologise, it was a good post, and I can think of about 10 real life friends it applies to. They're the ones MS need to get on board in my opinion.

I was very much anti-Kinect and was even considering a PS4 just because of the Kinect, but after trying the Kinect my opinion changed straight away.

 

Good isn't it BHC. I was silently reluctant at first due to how the 360 Kinect didn't work as I thought it would but after booting up Kinect 2.0 I was in <3

Lofty I agree mate, E3 should be awesome. A lot of pressure rolling on MS this year so they most certainly need to deliver but like you say, they cant please everyone

Just give me more (free) MMORPG and RPG and I am sold.
