Mojang to Microsoft migration, stuck on account creation

Please try this:

First create the Microsoft account from here:
https://signup.live.com/?lic=1

After that, please open a new incognito / private window in your browser and migrate your existing Mojang account. This time select "I already have an account" / "existing account" or similar and use the recently created account.

the mojang migration is to a microsoft account, the microsoft account is a windows.

You may have to migrate your existing Mojang account to your Microsoft account if you haven't already. The link below will provide instructions on how to perform the migration. Since someone already posted about this I'll just add on, but can you elaborate on "Create and add a new account after the migration then link that account to your Microsoft account"?

Are you saying to create a whole new Mojang account to then connect to the Microsoft one used for migration, or to connect the Microsoft account used for migration back to the Mojang one that was used to sign in before the migration?
