Mojang account linking to email linked to Xbox account

I was trying to find out how my friend playing Minecraft on his Xbox could invite me to his realm while I play on PC. We couldn't get it to work so I logged into my Mojang account (which was created using the email linked to my main Xbox profile) and found that my Mojang account was unlinked to my Microsoft account, so I want through with linking the two accounts (I thought this would allow me to accept the realm invite sent via Xbox on my PC.) In this process It told me to choose a username for my account (the username for my main xbox account was already prompted in the box) but I was told that my name was too long. In hindsight, I think they were telling me to choose a name for my new account, and that the username in the bar was already taken, but I was told that my older username (casualgarfedor) was too long, but this was not the case considering that the recommended names were not just longer but also acceptable!??! I ended up typing Casualgarfed into the bar just to please the website and I got to the end of the process when I noticed my xbox account name had changed altogether.

Essentially my problem is that my email that was initially linked to my main profile (that has all my friends, games, etc.) is now linked to an account with absolutely nothing, and I have not been able to recover my old account. ON TOP of all these things, I still was not able to receive the invite for the realm. If you have had this problem or know a solution to my account problem, please respond with your solution.

A lot of users have reported this issue! My best advice is to contact Mojang so your account gets linked to the correct email!

you cant, windows 10 version is bedrock which is also on all platforms, the mojang website version that excepts mods is the java edition that is a completely seperate version of minecraft which has to be purchased through mojang.

This is too stupid. We literally own Minecraft and RTX high end gaming cards, but Microsoft thinks it's a good idea to NOT give this small group access to the Tech demo? Way to go... What the heck is Insider Hub anyway? Just a 2nd app store? Dumb.

Unfortunately it is no longer possible to get a free copy. April 20th was the last day to obtain it.

I'm so sorry that you can't reedem your free copy anymore. You'll either have to buy a new copy from the Microsoft store or wait for it to be on sale.
