    If the Online Service for the game has been closed down that would be down to the Games Publisher. In this case EA You can find a list of server closures at

    This is out of Xbox's hands, More EA's

    Alot of old games servers get shutdown because of the player base will more towards new games etc..

    Services frequently get shut down for aged games with a very small player base. The game being 11 years old would probably be the reason EA is no longer keeping it going.
