Modern Warfare turned my One X into a paperweight

I was frequently getting errors and messages to "clear local saved game/data" or something, before returning to a System Error page; it seems to always be some variation of E102.

But alas, after the most recent clear request (which occurred while playing MW; mostly happened while playing FIFA) no matter what steps I take, the console always boots up into one of these System Error pages.

I've tried the usual unplugging/putting it back, and since that failed I've attempted the restart, shut down, and both of the factory reset options (save data/don't) and it's like the reset doesn't even run, as it the console restarts (as one assume) before
jumping back into a/this System Error screen.

In my last few (unsuccessful) attempts to reset the console, I've seen both [E102 10030C02 8007045D] and [E102 000000C11 80070003], if that is of any help.

*To be fair, I have experienced this sort of looping before with MW/this error, but a manual shutdown and/or removing the power fixed it. For some reason, this last time it just gave up and now it's stuck in this loop. I'll wait for a response before going
with the offline/USB reset, but this is sad as I've purchased numerous One X's for friends and family, and this is the first problem I've heard of.

P.S. Is it possible that this specific machine (which was purchased on Amazon, not from the Microsoft store) is worse/less-reliable? Am I better off just sticking with the official store?

Does that mean that all of my support must be done through Amazon/the seller?

Or do I still have a warranty from Microsoft? I purchased it within the last year I think.

Sorry for the late response but thank you for your thoughtful reply!

Miraculously, after leaving the console unplugged for an hour or so last night, I tried it again and it booted up with the factory default experience!

Not the best experience overall, but still much easier than sending it in lol. So now I've just opted to install some of the games that didn't cause this error (which is seemingly all of them except for MW)?

Also looking at FerGie's response, is it possible that the hard drive is the root cause? And if so, should I start using an external SSD perhaps?

I've got the exact same issue but I dont even own Modern Warfare. I believe it's an internal hard drive failure. For a fault that's on Microsofts end though, I cant justify paying like £250ish to get it repaired since numerous One Xs have had this issue.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to get your console attended to. I can definitely see how this kind of problem could be greatly disheartening for anyone to run into. If your console does keep getting that error it would definitely
not hurt to try that USB Offline update, however, if that does not work, then yeah, it would seem that the console is in need of repair. If you purchase a console brand new, the warranty will be active for up to a year if you did not get our extended coverage
(MS complete). You can always register your console at

device supportfor it to give you your available options or get a
customer supportagent outline them via the contact us page. If it is out of warranty though, you would more than likely have to pay a fee for it to go to the service center.

No problem, thanks for letting us know what has happened so far. To answer your question, it might be due to your harddrive if you continue to get errors like E 102 and so on.

There were many reports of Modern Warfare making console's turn off unexpectedly when the game initially came out, however the service alert concerning that game through our services has since been resolved.

All in all, if you do have problems Modern Warfare, you might want to get in contact with
Activision for a little more information as to what can be done to keep the game from affecting your console, but if those "E" errors rear their heads again, it would be best for
you to look into getting the console looked at and repaired if possible.
