I decided to buy mw3 for my Xbox one because it just became backwards compatible, one of my favorite CoD games. But to my disappointment, it's full of modded lobbies. It's a serious issue I wish Microsoft would take action in fixing/stopping. Unless mw3
gets remastered (which I doubt it will now), I won't be playing it ever again.

    :)

    Hacked Lobby! HELP!

Trust me, Call of Duty 4 is nowadays alot of mods, modded lobbies, deranking lobbies, rank hack lobbies...

I recomment playing Modern Warfare 3 since it has great community and almost impossible to mod, since I seen you want a fair game.

  5. I’m not sure if there’s much Microsoft could do. If the servers are run by Activision and XBL is just used for matchmaking it would be up to Activision.

Yes but is easy to clean their hands, Microsoft should support their clients and play hard against cheaters and this kind of behavior, Microsoft also have the responsability to educate the people that use their plataform, that must be a secure place to play
free of cheaters or undesirable behaviors. A passive respond will not fix this problem, actions must be taken...

  7. this is probably up to Activision and unfortunately, I doubt they would go to great lengths to support an old game like MW3

Never found any modded lobbies however, most games I do get into, there is an INVISIBLE cheating noob who is, yes, INVISIBLE going around killing everyone and just ruining every match...

I played Modern Warfare and got -99999999999999999 EXP and can never play that game online ever again. Shocked it hasn't happened yet on MW3. Nice to see that the hackers can have their way and RUIN your online experience but, simply having a quote from
a Halo character will give you a 48hr suspension (happened to me years ago, I LITERALLY quoted Johnson in my bio and got a 48hr suspension).

Nice job guys! 10/10 service! ...Not

  9. Hi,

I can understand your frustrations here, but you need to understand something about how these old games work for online Multiplayer. Let me quickly try to explain.

So we pay Microsoft for Xbox Live, but the games run on Activision's 'Servers' right? But why can't Activision fix their own game servers?

You may not be aware of how these online games operate, let me explain. Modern Warfare 3 doesn't use dedicated servers to host these games. There is a COD server, but it's main function is to link players together for matchmaking
(in co-ordination with Xbox Live), keep scores and player rankings and select users in a lobby to 'Host' the game. Which leads to the most important part, the 'Host'.

In effect, one user, who, depending on their network speed and geographical location, is chosen by the Activision servers to run a particular match. So, the games themselves, when in progress, are actually run by other console's, not Activision
or Microsoft. Activision kind of sits in-between, keeping players together and recording scores. This is why, at least in the first COD games, if the host quit or lost connection, everyone was kicked and returned to the main lobby.

These older Call of Duty games were run like this because the advantage from a business point of view is they cost very little to run. The disadvantage is that they are extremely difficult if not impossible to monitor. The only way exploits can
be fixed is to patch the game. Patching costs money, and can take away work from other projects. These games are old, they aren't going to be patched anymore.

So what's different with say Call of Duty WW2 on Xbox One compared with COD games on the 360?

The big difference is the games are hosted on dedicated servers. These are dedicated machines set to run all online matches. The advantages are huge. The servers generally can't be easily manipulated to run versions of the game with mods. From what I
understand, it's almost impossible. And, because they are fully run by Activision, they are far more easy to maintain and more importantly, monitor.

The main disadvantage is cost, and longevity. After a time, the publisher may choose to close the game servers down. When this happens, no one will be able to play the game anymore.

Hope this makes sense, and explains why these games are in the state they are in.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything Microsoft can do. If you want to file a complain try Activision who run the servers.
