Moderate nat problems

Since I got my new router, asus Ac1900 my nat has been stuck moderate. Upnp is enabled, I've set my ip adress for the xbox, and forward all the ports. Still moderate

and I were actually talking about this the other day.

In both of our situations, our NAT is moderate via wifi, but open via ethernet cable.

Sort of on topic: Will ethernet open up the NAT? Just changed routers and my NAT is now moderate vs. open before.

 

Those are both routers , you would have to put the Arris in 'bridge mode" (or maybe your isp will have to if its blocked) to make the 1st device just a pass through modem , then the Asus will handle all the router duties ...

 

you should also reset it to factory defaults as you shouldn't have to do anything other than UPNP (you cant do both port forwarding AND upnp as that is conflicting instructions) static ip is a good idea though...probably not needed with a good router...

 

Before I got the asus router my nat has always been open. Since I've hooked the asus router up to the xfinity modem it is now moderate.

 

@RR Ghostdog - As Bimnog were mentioning. The Arris TG862 is a combined, modem/router/NAT. Where if you connect an additional router/NAT to the TG862, the TG862 has to be operating in bridge mode. Since multiple layers of NAT will tend to break NAT traversal.
Which you've already noticed from your console's NAT behaviour (Strict/Moderate/drifting).

Phone Comcast (Xfinity) and have them know about your situation and that you need the TG862 to be configured in bridge mode.

You shouldn't have to do any additional configuration on your ASUS router to accomplish an Open NAT on your console. Clear any entries for Port Forwarding/Port Triggering/DMZ and let UPnP do all the work. Which means, UPnP should be ticked as enabled.
