    Moderate NAT Issue

Wired or wireless (for each console):
    One- Wired, 360- Wireless

    Things you have tried:

    1. Restarting the Gateway and Xbox

    3. Setting Console in Energy Saver Mode

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type? Moderate NAT type- behind a port restricted NAT.

Any Error Codes you encounter: N/A

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): Rogers

Morning everyone! Recently I have been having trouble connecting to one of my friends on XBL. So I went into my network connections and saw that I had a moderate NAT type (he has open). I went through the troubleshooting process but I couldn't get anything
to work, so I assume the issue may be a little more specific. First, here are some images of my router settings:

    http://imgur.com/a/SJjWB

I used a tool to set up a static IP address and then forwarded the ports that XBOne needs, but I'm sure I could have done something wrong along the way. The most interesting detail is the when I do the advanced network details trick (LT+RT+LB+RB) after
a multiplayer network test, 1/5 times it will come up as behind a "cone" NAT, and appear open, but that changes back after 1 or 2 more tests. I'm not sure what's causing it to change between open and moderate like that.

The last detail that could be important is that I could play with this friend 2 days ago. I'm not sure if my NAT was open at that time, but it's possible it changed to moderate very recently.

    Thanks for any help,

    WarJar

    :)

  2. Weird issue with mic

Sounds like NAT or network issues. Sometimes when two people have a certain network config you can play and chat with other people just fine, but not someone else with your same issue.

My wife and I used to have a similar issue with chat in OG Destiny. Check your NAT and make sure it is open not moderate or strict.

does ethernet xbox one download faster?

and I were actually talking about this the other day.

In both of our situations, our NAT is moderate via wifi, but open via ethernet cable.

Find out which exact port your xbox one is on, and set it to port forwarding. You have to do this in your router settings. Also look for advanced settings in your router. Some of the newer ones have a gaming setup you can use.

    Hey there xWarJar!

The following section is not for troubleshooting, but FYI.

If you want to manually forward network ports, for a specific endpoint device on your local network (for example Xbox One), then make sure you do not assign this device a fixed IP address within the DHCP server's dynamic range of IP addresses. I can see
that your DHCP server's pool of addresses, starts with 192.168.0.10 and ends with 192.168.0.200. You have then assign static NAT for your Xbox One with the following LAN address: 192.168.0.150. This address is within the dynamic range of the DHCP server's
pool of addresses, when for proper configuration, need to be assigned outside of this range, to avoid IP conflicts.

Now, on with the troubleshooting! Moderate NAT Issue :)

Instaed of manually forwarding network ports, used by applications running on your Xbox One, try to reserve a unique address (not in use), by using DHCP reservation. And by, "instead of manually forwarding network ports", I refer to clear all entries that
you've made in Port Forwarding, which affect your Xbox One, and instead use UPnP (Universal Plug and Play).

When this is done (don't forget to save/apply your Changes), go to Xbox Network settings and Alternate MAC address, and select Clear. Then press and hold the Power button on front of your console for 10 seconds. The console should then Power off, and from
here you simply turn on your console and run a Multiplayer Connection Test, and press the LT + RT... combo for detailed network specifics.

Post back and let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the tip, I don't really know anything about Port Forwarding.

For your troubleshooting, I understand all steps besides this one:

"Instaed of manually forwarding network ports, used by applications running on your Xbox One, try to reserve a unique address (not in use), by using DHCP reservation."

Is that a step, or a tip for the future? If it's a step I don't know how to use DHCP reservation.

    Thanks.

I'm sorry, it was ment as a step, and not a tip.

If you access your routers web-utility interface, and go to LAN setup (Basic settings), and select 'DHCP Reservation'. This feature will let you, either choose from a list of connected devices, or you have to manually type in your console's MAC address.
Then choose a unique IP address which is not in use, and add/save/apply.

Before you do this, make sure you have cleared all entries for your Xbox One in Port Forwarding.

It's also important that you restore your console's network settings to factory defaults, as described per my previous post.

    Moderate NAT Issue

No worries, just wanted to make sure I understood all the steps.

I did everything you said and the first test was behind a cone restricted NAT, and Open, and after 15-30mins I did the test again and it's behind a port restricted, and moderate NAT again.

Do you still use your Xbox 360, or is it unplugged from your network/router?

Do you know if there has been an significant change lately, regarding your Internet service?

Disable UPnP, and place the reserved IP address (DHCP Reservation) for your Xbox One in the DMZ of your router.

Can you also verify that the IP address you have reserved, is the same address being assigned to your Xbox One.

    Moderate NAT issues

I'm sorry; I think my first post was a little confusing. The "most recent" configuration to which I was referring was not on my school network. The school network is hard-wired through a network switch in my room straight into the school network. I have
tried taking the network switch out of the equation, with no improvement. No matter what network I am on (school, home, at a friend's house, etc.) it gives me the NAT error, even when other Xbox consoles have no problem with the settings. I still think that
it must be an issue on the console itself (though I know I may very well be wrong). It's just that no matter how I configure my home network there is no change in the error message.

    Moderate NAT issues

    Greetings Firesign!

You replaced your previous network equipment where you had a restricted NAT, with this new device (ZTE ZXDSL 931WIIV) and now you have the exact same problem with your NAT?

Make sure your router is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware.

When you say that you have tried with UPnP enabled, at the same time, was Port Forwarding disabled and vice versa?

Access your router and go to the WAN overview of your router. Try and see if you can find an entry related to the term Fullcone NAT. If this is to be found can you tell us if this is disabled or enabled.

    Thank you!
