    Moderate NAT behind port restrictions.


    I just recently moved to a new house. Before I moved, I jad no connection problems at all (open NAT, good connection etc.) But now that I moved I've had one connection problem after another.

    At first I thought I was too far away from my wireless router so I bought a long range router, when that did nothing i bought a range extender, it helped but my NAT remained the same. Now I have a wired connection running from my range extender but STILL
    moderate NAT.

    I've did the port forwarding, DMZ, upgraded my firmware, upnp I feel like I did everything but to no avail.

    If I'm being honest, I have no idea what I'm doing and all of this technical talk almost slips right over my head so any help would be deeply appreciated.

    Heres my info

    Spartanburg, South Carolina, Usa

    ISP: AT&T

    Modem: **** NVG589

    Router: Amped Wireless RTA15

    Range extender: amped wireless REC10

    NAT type: moderate, behind port restrictions

    Your network is behind port restricted NAT

    They have slower internet and you are wondering why your connection is slower?

    Depends on the router on how to disable NAT or make NAT less intense. We will need your service provider (at the place that has restrictive NAT) and the router they have.

    Those will help us reconfigure a router / modem with different nat settings.

    Your network is behind port restricted NAT

    Opening my NAT type through my modem and port forwarding my Xbox, as well as some extra tweaking the official Xbox website recommended, fixed all my connection issues.

    For accessing my devices, I type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, enter my username and password which is usually "admin" and "password" for most people, go to advanced settings, go to WAN setup, change NAT filtering to open and disable SIP ALG. It may be a bit different for you depending on what modem you're using. After doing this, check out the links I posted. Good luck.

    hey - your Problem is: You are double Natted:

    Your Modem is not a Modem it is a Gateway with it own Nat (I googled it). I´m not sure if it´s possible to bridge this Gateway - you have to ask your ISP. So it will work as a modem only without NAT.

    If this is not possible maybe you can chane this gateway to a "normal" DOCSIS 3 Modem?

    No worries, just wanted to make sure I understood all the steps.

    I did everything you said and the first test was behind a cone restricted NAT, and Open, and after 15-30mins I did the test again and it's behind a port restricted, and moderate NAT again.

    Edit: My Detailed NAT info either says "Your network is behind a UPnP port-restricted NAT" or "Your network is behind a port-preserving port-symmetric NAT". Depending if my Firewall on my Modem is Enabled/Disabled. If it's disabled it usually says 2nd part.
    Enabled usually says 1st part. This also makes my NAT go from Strict to Moderate like i said above.
