I'm all for a great baseball game on MS's console for those who want one but like a lot of other people, you lose me with a baseball game lending credibility to a console. Great games lend credibility to a console. Heck, I'm as American as it gets. I love
apple pie. I drive a Chevy pick-up. Couldn't care less if they never made another baseball game ever in the history of ever. 2K seems content with basketball. EA can't make a balanced sports game if they tried and when they do decide to try, they buy up the
license, (cause they're afraid of competition), quit trying, and release yearly $60 roster updates disguised as "NEW" games. Your only bet for a baseball game is Sony and The Show if you need that baseball jones.

I never said that the game would give Xbox "credibility", that doesn't make much sense. Ps4 would love to have Halo for "credibility" but they both sell regardless and both have credibility regardless. But just plain and simple, I just want to play a baseball
game. I mean I feel it's not too much to ask. I play NBA, Madden, and NHL, mostly with my brother who is away in the army. I just think that all of the four major sports should be playable. I don't want to go buy a PS4, if I did I would have. I want an Xbox
One, with the ability to play a baseball game. I want to play baseball now but I will want to play Halo later so don't just say well switch to PS4 then.

I feel Xbox's real hot zones are New York, Boston, or California who all have huge baseball markets. between the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Angels, Giants, and of course the world champion Red Sox! I think the bad sales from the past are more on MLB 2k then
baseball games in general. MLB 2K I cannot stress enough, if you played it I'm preaching to the quire, but it was absolutely horrible. It was not polished one bit the ball would go through your body, or even through the wall on the ground. Let alone all the
freezing that came along with it. I also do understand that FIFA is an exception as soccer is a huge sport globally outside of America.

But you can't say that if Microsoft came out with "The Show" or an equivalent just for argument sake it would be at the bottom of the barrel as far as games go out for XBOX. Right now it's easy to say that but you know in the next couple years well get
watered down with other games that WANT to be Halo, that WANT to be COD or WANT to be Minecraft. And those are the games that the company will loose money not a steady baseball game. And XxNappyDugoutxX I like what you said about EA.

You didn't make the statement about credibility, HailofSteel did. MLB the Show 13 hasnt sold a million copies yet, so the proof is in the numbers as far as how successful a baseball game would be if MS spent money to develop one.

MLB 14 on PS4 is an absolute disappointment. The online play is horrid and the load times are ridiculous for a current gen system.

Now if MS wants to release another Links game, I'll buy that day one.

EA has simply oversaturated the market with rehashed sports games, while at the same time, monopolized the licensing of the brands at the heart of each sport. It is really hard to separate EA from the watered-down, lackluster Sports genre, because they have
    single-handedly created this problem.

If there was thriving competition among developers to produce a great baseball game, there is no doubt in my mind we would have one at the moment. Instead, EA makes the only sports games people really care about, because they have cornered the teams and
    athletes people care about worldwide.

EA is truly a bad participant in every facet of the games industry, but they have pretty much eroded, corrupted and exploited this entire genre all by themselves.

To add to my last post: obviously, there are other sports games by other makers out there. However, the Sports genre had at least 15 years of pure domination by EA, and nearly all of it has resulted in a total lack of innovation and re-hashed, uncreative,
shovelware. It's similar to the Guitar Hero games - complete oversaturation, yearly cash-grab half-sequels and almost no new gameplay for years on end.

  7. Baseball games are a must whether its a huge seller or not.It says a lot about Microsoft to not have a first party sports lineup. It shows how weak they are in 1st party support .And I disagree with you Knewrome.MLB 2K13 is awesome although it did corrupt
my save file and I had to start my career over. All games have a glitch or two here and there. Not saying they couldnt improve on some things but its still pretty solid.

^^Says alot about Sony not having a first party sports lineup. One game doesn't make it a lineup.

  9. Its one more than another company I can think of.Maybe because Sony is a company based in Japan .What do Japanese people know about NASCAR or American football? lol Or Europeans? But football is American and Xbox is an American product(translated:made in
    China)

Sony owns 1st party rights to MLB games and EA owns the rights to NFL games. I would say that pretty much limits what MS can do. According to you, Nintendo must also be weak in 1st party support too. A publisher does not need a sports game to be successful,
nor does one sports game make a company successful.

  11. The exclusivity deals only pertains to 3rd party titles. MS could make a MLB or NFL if they wanted to for their consol.Konami or Activision could not as they would be 3rd party.Someone on these forums suggested the reason MS doesnt have sports titles is
because EA told them they would not bring games to the Xbox platform if they continued to develop these games.I cant confirm but its what I heard.

The NFL exclusive deal EA has means no company, not MS, Sony, Take 2 or anyone else can make a football game using the members of the NFLPA.

@aircobra Im not even sure what you mean by Sony owns first party rights to nake MLB games. They dont own the rights to make baseball games exclusive to PS. They went to the MLB/MLBPA and asked to use player likenesses, which they granted. The same thing
that Take-Two did and the same thing the makers of RBI baseball did.

To say that MS isnt credible because of its lack of sports titles is really troubling. I think MLB the Show looks awesome, and wish Sony made an NBA game that looked just as good. But I wouldn't doubt their credibility as a publisher because they didnt make
one. And to even suggest such a thing is asinine.

Does the Microsoft/EA deal they struck to bring EA to the original Xbox still stand?

For those that don't know, the deal prevented Microsoft from releasing sports titles that competed directly with EA titles, this lead to the Links and Rallisport Challenge franchises terminating, which is a shame because they were both great franchises that
    gamers loved.

Links was the best Golf game franchise by far.

If so it may explain the lack of Microsoft sports titles on Xbox360, and may hinder Xbox One games too.

  14. ^^ That's what I hate about companies like EA. They monopolize something, only to drive it into the ground.

  15. I hate EA for online passes, micro transactions and for the amount of good games/developers they have ruined, and their crappy servers!
