MKV Files that were working are now not

    Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same issue I'm having.

MKV files on both my PC and External Hard Drive that were working on my Xbox One are now not working. This happened about two weeks ago.

In the case of DLNA streaming, the files don't appear at all, and in the case of files on the external hard drive, I get the error message saying it can't play that type of file.

I have no idea why it's just randomly happened all of a sudden.

Also, the weird thing is I can use the Play To feature from my PC to push the files to the Xbox and they play fine. It's just when it originates from the Xbox that it's struggling.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    :)

getting lots of error messages with new update to media player preview (0xc1010107, 0xc00d36c3, 0xc00d5212)

Looks like you nailed it. The problem indeed looks like its linked to the audio encoding. I compared seven different mkv files, four that would not play and three that played. The four that failed were all DTS audio, and all three working files were AC-3.

So it appears DTS audio format is not supported at the moment.

  3. Media Player Not showing MKV files.

I am having the same issue. MKV files are not appearing in the media player browser. All of the other files that I expect to be there are present except for the MKV files.

Is this an issue with only certain encodings being displayed? Wouldn't that just result in playback issues?

An official response would be great. I was really looking forward to the MKV streaming in the October update.

Media Player Not showing MKV files.

None of this worked for me.

MKV files are not visible. And to restate...I CAN see all other media files.

Xbox One's Media Player App is complete crap

My MKVs work when they're on a USB stick. Run your mkv file through a program and find out what the video and audio codec is. Mine are MPEG2 for video and some kind of 2 channel stereo. If you're trying to play files with Dolby 7.1 I don't think it will
    work.

    Xbox One and its codecs.

Most newer TVs support MKV files now. The same as most newer Blu Ray players.

Media Player error 0xc00d36c4 streaming MKV from PC

Maybe someone could at least confirm for me whether this is even a use-case that is expected to work?Is it expected that you can stream MKV video using the Media Player app on Xbox One from a Win8.1 PC media library?

I have subsequently tried to re-pro the issue on a fresh build of Win8.1 on a different PC on my home network, using the same MKV files, and same Media Streaming options. In this case Media Player app on XB1 does not even list the MKV files within this media
library. Maybe this is the default behaviour instead?

On the PC hosting the MKV files with which the Media Player app gives error 0xc00d36c4, I once had some third-party MKV codecs installed (CCCP) so that I could watch MKVs in Media Player 12 for Windows 8. Once MS added MKV support to the Video app in Win8.1
I uninstalled these third-party codecs. Could this be the only reason that the Media Player app on XB1 sees the MKV files in this media library, and it isn't even supposed to?
