Mix local and online players

Hi,

I've been trying to play several games that are on gamepass, all of them have local and online multiplayer.

The issue is that I've tried to play them with someone on my xbox and 2 others online. However we couldn't make it work in any of these games:

Spelunky 2

Human Fall Flat

Golf with Friends

These games have both local and online and support 4 to 8 players. However seems like its impossible to mix players locally and online? I don't see any logical explanation to have this limitation but we couldn't make it work.

Any game that supports mixing online players would usually refer to it as "online co-op"

Right, it means you can play over Xbox Live

Any game that allows mixing multiple local and online players, which isn't a lot, would have that marker.

Could you explain how? Or link somewhere where i can read about how to do it. Because we really couldn't figure it out and i've checked around and we couldn't.

An article or a video. It doesn't even have to be for that game, but i'm confused for the big abount of games that allow both offline/online but we can't make it work to do both at the same time.

Yes halo 1 & 2 are 2 player online and local while 3 & 4 are 4 player online and local
