Mistake with code

I bought a game code from a walmart and i grabbed the xb1 card but when code was redeemed it was the wrong game version. Does this always happen or not. I thought that it was a mistake from microsoft or whoever makes the codes.

Was it a printed game card on a receipt from Walmart? This is likely human error on the part of Walmart and not Xbox and it is likely you were sold the wrong voucher by the member of staff. This is an issue for Walmart not Xbox.

What was it that you wanted and what was sold to you?

Where did you buy the code? Could it be possible you've been given a 48hr code by mistake ?
