Missing Games/Content in tier 2 regions?

Hi there everyone! I hope you're enjoying your Xbox Ones in the wake of friday's launch.

I'm following up on reports that certain content is missing in tier 2 countries. I'm affected myself; with the Ultra Edition of Killer Instinct - and its associated content like retro costumes, accessories and the original Killer Instinct - being suspiciously
absent from the Swedish Xbox store. All that is available to me is the Combo Breaker pack and separately sold characters.

So I'm wondering if anyone is affected by this, and in that case how. I'm putting together an article highlighting this after the Xbox Support twitter account blew me off with a robotic "that content is unavailable in your region", as if I hadn't gathered that
much already. We waited 10 months so microsoft could allegedly make sure we got the best possible experience, and we have missing voice commands and store content to show for it.

If you're experiencing this, please provide your region and detail the content that is missing. I won't include names/gamertags in the article unless asked to do so, specifically, to credit the source.

And in spite of these unfortunate circumstances, I hope everyone's having an awesome time with their Xbox One. Killer Instinct is prretty sweet, I'll tell you.

Where is the Ultra Edition?

It's super irritating, too, that the only acknowledged absence is that of the KI ultra pack, when there's plenty of stuff missing for us sad, second rate tier 2 citizens.

I don't know much about DLC, but over here in The Netherlands were missing a few Games With Gold releases.

I know I queued up Strike Suit Zero in the beginning of August and that's nowhere to be found anymore. Not on the Xbox One or Live Marketplace. Also this months game, Super Time Force is nowhere to be found.

All the other games that were released through Games With Gold are present for me. These two are the only ones that are missing. Hoping for a fix.

 

If you go to Settings, set your location to USA (or a "tier 1" location) and then restart your console, you will be able to enter the US store. You will find the missing games there. You can add them to your download queue. You can then change your location
again to the one you want and restart your console again. The games will proceed to download and you will be able to play them.

I don't think I've seen anything that forbids this method. But ultimately, it would be best if all "Tier 2" Stores were up to date with the rest. In the meantime, you can use this.

 

@Storm1674: True, that is an option, but not a very convenient or even a possible one for most of us. To pay for the games, you'd need an US credit card or US pre-paid Xbox Store cards (which many retailers like to overprice if bought abroad online). The
funds that are added in a "Tier 2" country don't transfer to other countries' marketplace either even if the currency is the same. There's also PayPal, but regardless you need to set up a real US billing address. Making up the address could potentially violate
the Xbox Live terms of use and could lead to problems.

All in all, it's a big hassle and we should have no reason to do all that.

I'm assuming the latter is because the first Killer Instinct is rated higher than the new one, and along with a lot of violent titles it won't be sold in germany. I'm also assuming that doesn't mean the accessories and costumes will remain unavailable.

This really DOES make it seem like a mistake, however, and not at all the deliberate region restriction that Xbox support kept repeating like robots.

Hopefully this means that the rest of the missing content and games are also made available sooner rather than later. I'm updating the article to reflect this news.
