Missing Backwards Compatability

A few days ago on Amazon I bought a copy of Dead or Alive Extreme for the original Xbox. I paid $80 and spent 3 days excitedly waiting for it. When it finally arrived I quickly unwrapped it and put the disc in my 360. One moment of heartbreak and 20 seconds
of googling later I find out I spent all that money just to make myself depressed. DOAX along with many other games were scheduled to be backwards compatabili... fied?... ,but never delivered upon. At some point Microsoft just said, "Screw what we promised, we
don't feel like doing it now." It's upsetting obviously, but I'm used that attitude from companies. However, while Microsoft is off doing whatever whim entered their head at breakfast today, I can't stop staring at that game on my shelf. I can't buy an original
Xbox, an outdated system, for 1 game. Literally can't. So what do I do?

By my logic, the next step is to ask about a mod. I've always avoided mods, but this seems like an honestly good reason for an exception. I don't really care if I get in trouble for asking about a mod either. I've learned to accept that things rarely go
well for me. For instance, I paid $300 for my 360 elite several years ago. Now it has a 512mb memory card and two 32gb flash drives plugged into it. Why? By the time I needed more hard drive space 2 things had happened. Hard drives were no longer made for my
360 model (and are really expensive online) and it's trade-in value was nearly zero since it's an outdated model. So no slim model for me. I said oh well and just started plugging things into it.

So tell me, am I really so bad for just wanting the ability to play an old game? Is there a simple mod I can download as a substitute for backwards compatability with this game?

So backwards compatability is a big issue when from what we know the PS4 "backwards compatability" is just the ability to buy the games in a digital format that will work on the new console, hmm.

 

Well, one of the more obvious things we're going to bring up is that you really should have researched prior to spending 80 bucks on the game.

Also, as opposed to using mods which would more than likely get your Live account banned, if you're willing to spend $80 on 1 game, then here's a

link to eBay where you can find a crap-ton of original Xbox's for sale at or around $20.

I have dozens of them, if they are worth $80 a pop to you americans, they are going on ebay.

As Egg says, why on earth did you not check before buying it?

Since when can`t you buy old style hard drives cheaply, ebay is full of them.

I never said buy a used xbox, buy a second hand hard drive for next to nothing.

Clearly you trusted the person you paid $80 for a game too, why not buy a hard drive from the same place?

The hard drive was just framing. You're focusing on the wrong thing.

You could have bought the game, hard drive and probably a used xbox console for $80 on ebay,all in.

Why would you automatically assume a game would work on a console it wasn`t made for?

As you said it took 20 seconds to find out it wasn`t.

There are no mods to fix your problem, and just asking for mods can get you a ban these days.

You should have done research. Not ALL OG Xbox games are backwards compatible.

and Original xbox is only 25 bucks at a pawn shop. if you really spent $80 bucks on a new Xbox game you can spend 25 for a system.

Also, you could have saved a bunch of money. i bought splinter cell on my xbox and it said it was used but when it came in it had no scratches. Read the description of the sale.

 

Yeah, not all original Xbox games work on the 360.If I was you, i'd find a cheap original xbox and play it on that. I know that may be more money, but it's worth it to play original Xbox games, especially when the 360 doesn't do so great with playing originals.
