Misleading advertisements and lack of accountability

After purchasing a preorder for the Standard Edition of Diablo 4, I received a “just for you” deal that stated that the Ultimate Edition game was 70% off. I went through Web Chat to verify that this was actually %70 off and not just a misleading scam of “pay $X more to upgrade to the ultimate edition of your standard preorder”. The agent verified this and made the changes to my preorder and I received the Ultimate Edition for %70 off and was refunded the Standard Edition. Fast forward to 9 days later after I have been playing the game with no issue, I receive an email that this was a mistake and that the game is being uninstalled from my device and I will be refunded. After a second round of web chats, the resolution is nothing. I am left with purchasing the Standard Edition again. Nothing can be done, no discounts, nothing for the troubles. I absolutely never post reviews about anything, but this is such a blatant attempt at misleading consumers in order to make more money under the false pretext of it being a “discount/deal”. In addition, the inability of the company to take responsibility for their multiple errors and false advertisements and ultimately leave me with zero resolution on the matter is appalling. As an Xbox consumer for over 20 years, an Xbox live consumer for almost 15 years, as well as a Game Pass subscriber, this is unacceptable business practice. Although it may seem juvenile and ultimately impact-less to such a large corporation, this experience has 100% changed my outlook on Microsoft and will be changing my future expenditures on Microsoft products and gaming systems.
