Mini Original Xbox Classic

It's an original, but I think it plays on the 360, and it's in the Xbox originals classics downloads for 360.

I said 'not yet' as there isn't a ARM based SoC powerful or fast enough for Original Xbox emulation. If they made one now, it would require quite expensive hardware. No one is going to buy a mini Xbox original if costs more than $150. It wouldn't sell. It's
main reason Nintendo haven't released a N64 Mini. The N64 is hard to emulate acurately using ARM hardware

NES Classic - 2016

Internally, the console uses an Allwinner R16 system on a chip with four ARM Cortex-A7 central processing cores and an ARM Mali 400 MP2 graphics processing unit. It includes 512 MB of flash storage and 256 MB of DDR3 memory.[4][5]

For video output, the system features an HDMI connection, which puts out 720p at 60 Hz video for all games.

I like you're idea, but it's unlikely to happen. At least not yet anyway.

There are a number of reasons why, but I'll get to that, bear with me. You've probably noticed there's a bit of thing lately for mini Retro console's. Nintendo released both the NES mini and the Super NES (or SNES) Mini. Sega brought out a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis
Mini, and Sony jumped on board with their no so great PlayStation Mini.

None of these machine's use the original hardware that made them great. In fact, they all run on a variety of different types of ARM based systems or SoC's (system on a chip). ARM processors power the majority of Smart Phones and tablet computers. These
mini consoles play games via software emulation using ARM. No one makes the original chips that powered them anymore.

Using an ARM chip to emulate the hardware of the NES or SNES isn't very demanding, these machines came out in the early 80's and 90's respectively and contain basic hardware by today's standards.

The original Xbox is a different type of beast entirely. It contained an Intel Celeron processor @733Mhz and and NVIDIA graphics processor. Neither Intel or NVIDIA make this hardware anymore and Microsoft don't hold the rights to it anyway.

To emulate that kind of hardware using a low powered cheap ARM SoC just isn't feasible, technically or economically.



It's one of the main reasons why Nintendo are unlikely to release an N64 mini anytime soon. Cheap ARM hardware has a real problem emulating the hardware correctly.

Sounds like backwards comp was actually a lot of work, but it's been a big hit so I'd imagine they will want to make Scarlett play everything ever released for Xbox. No need for 'Xbox Mini Classic' in twenty years time
