Minesweeper crashing on Adventure...

Every time I try and run MS Minesweepeer Adventure mode now, it crashes and returns me to the Windows 8.1 home screen.

I start Minesweeper up, it signs me in to Xbox live, I click on Adventure, get the loading screen, wait about 5 seconds then I'm back at the Windows home screen. If I look at the top left, the application has restarted itself, but is at the initial Minesweeper
starting screen. Other parts of the game are working fine, just the Adventure...

Windows Version: 8.1 operating system. Version 6.3 (Build 9600)

Dell Inspiron 660 desktop.

Issues have been on/off for a few months now. Sort of comes and goes... sometimes it runs fine for a few days, then stops and goes like this... If I leave it for a while (a few days at least) it seems to start working again...

This is the only game I have noticed it happening on.

Minesweeper adventure mode crashing

For the last couple of months when I try to play adventure mode in Minesweeper, the game will load, but as soon as I try to move, the game will freeze for a couple of seconds and the crash out to the desktop with no error. Daily challenges still work fine.

Mine ran fine under 8.0, then ran fine for a week or so under 8.1. Now it crashes just as you say -- every time, not just a few days at a time. I also do not understand why it doesn't just crash back to the Minesweeper start page.

I wonder if anyone is going to address this issue?

 

Actually we have been addressing this issue. It appears that the last update resolved the issue for some users but not for others and we're still trying to figure out why because we haven't seen a specific pattern of users. If you've already emailed

Same here. Adventure still doesn't work, the rest does. This is going on for weeks now. For the record, it is thus unrelated to the very recent Mahjong problem I reported today.

Haven't sent any dxdiag file. I see a lot of these (.exe, .mui, .dll) on the C: drive, but no text file. I'll be happy to send you that file if I find it ;-), so please give instructions and your emailaddress.

 

You'll need to run the Dxdiag.exe program to generate the text file. This will do a quick scan of your computer and put together all the relevant information. Then click on Save All Information..., save the file in a location you can remember and attach

Ditto, I have been having the same issue with Minesweeper Adventure failing to load on Windows 8.1. It worked for a while after upgrading to 8.1.

I have tried reinstalling the app and it worked for a couple of days then the fault returned. Have also tried a system restore and the same.

A copy of the DxDiag.txt file has been emailed to *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** as advised above.

I can play everything but adventure. So it seems somewhere in combase.dll something make the game crash.

 

I am seeing the same problem. Relatively new 8.1 install. Minesweeper adventure worked for a few days and then stopped. I removed the app and reinstalled it and it worked again. For a few days...

Today I created a new local account, tied it to the same Microsoft account in order to install the game.

It installed and ran adventure fine.

So I signed out and signed into my normal account. Minesweeper Adventure still fails.

Get the splash screen. Click on Adventure and it bring up the green load screen for about 4 seconds then back to the Windows startup screen. The task manager still shows Minesweeper running.

This appears to be a resource issue tied to the user account.

 

Interesting find Reginald. If you log in to your local account again, does it still work?

 

Are you guys even sure you fixed the issue in the first place? Perhaps everyone you thought you fixed just gave up because Microsoft not being able to fix such a simple game is kind of pathetic? Just a thought. This is what happens with technology thinks
it can run before it can even walk.

I just tested this again. I logged out of my Xbox Live account and into the generic "Games" account. Minesweeper Adventure mode still works.

But in my Xbox account it does not. I get the green screen for a few seconds and then back to the Start screen. Hovering the mouse in the left hand corner shows Minesweeper running, but if I bring it back it drops back to the main screen.

Adventure is still a no go for me.
