Minesweeper Adventure doesn't work any more on any device

I have three devices with Windows 8.1; a desktop, laptop and Surface RT. I have Minesweeper installed on all three and all three are up-to-date with Windows Update and the Windows App store. A couple of weeks ago Minesweeper stopped working on all three.
I don't recall there being an update on that day or any other action that might have caused this.

Behavior:

Start Minesweeper from the Start page

Minesweeper main page comes up

Click on Adventure

Click Use Cloud or Use Local (fails either way)

"Starting" splash screen comes up for a few seconds

Returns to Windows start page without running adventure

Minesweeper still appears in the running apps and when I return to it, it is at its main page again

Other features of Minesweeper work fine

Tried:

Uninstalling Minesweeper and reinstalling

Refreshing Windows 8.1 through Restore

Waiting a couple of weeks for updates - have installed all updates over the last two weeks

minesweeper adventure mode doesn't load anymore

I have been playing minesweeper in adventure mode on my surface device running win8.1 pro with an i5 processor. Since two days ago, the app doesn't load the adventure mode any longer (exactly since I had to accept some changed microsoft terms of use); whenever
I try to start it, I end up on the metro screen instead. I can still play daily challenges, though. As there seems to be no way to re-install, what could I try instead?

 

Stylus on tablet stopped working for mines and flags on last update

Ditto - minesweeper adventure stopped responding to stylus in the game board on Surface Pro 2. The stylus works everywhere else I try it, and finger touch still works in the game board. I'm glad to read it's being worked on - finger touch is really awkward
on a tight minesweeper board.

 

I have the same problem on a laptop and I'm beginning to be really frustrated about it. Don't know what to do, talking to Microsoft technical support seemed to have fixed it with uninstalling and reinstalling, but as soon as I got out of it and wanted to
go back to it, it refused to do so.

Has anyone got any idea?

 

This issue might take a bit more investigation. Can you please do the following?

1. Press Windows Key + R

2. In the command box, type dxdiag

3. When the green bar in the dx diagnostic window is finished, choose Save All Information and save it somewhere you can find easily.
