my son is disheartened that we havent got the new mc in ready to download dispite 30hours plus play and DLC. what can i do?

Minecraft: Better Together is not free.

Hello. I need a help.

I bought a disc: Minecraft: Xbox One edition in somewhere around 25-28th of January.

In game i saw a message, that new Minecraft edition (Better Together/Bedrock Edition) is free for owners of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. In my situation - i needed to play for 5 hours in Minecraft: Xbox One edition. I played that time in 25-29 of January.
But new Minecraft edition was still not free for me. It says that offer ended in 30th of January. So - i didn't take new version of Minecraft for free because of this bug. So why is that happened? Help me please. I want that version so much!

Your son is not alone i'm right there with him. All i get is the run around and the same answers over and over for the past two weeks from xbox tech support. I'm beginning to even wonder if they care of if were going to get it at all.

I am also unable to get the new version, hopefully this gets resolved soon because this is becoming really frustrating. I have played at least 10 hours this week alone so I know that isn't the problem

Guess we got to wait and see if it gets resolved.

Hi,

If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc and have played for at least 5 hours in the past 12 months or bought DLC, you’ll be able to upgrade to Minecraft for free, until January 30th 2018.

If you haven’t played in the past 12 months, you can play five hours or purchase DLC before January 30th 2018 to unlock your upgrade.

If you’re eligible based on your purchases or game play, you will see a copy of Minecraft available in Ready to install under My games & apps.

I appreciate you trying but that really isn't helping, it seems a lot of people are having this issue, so it can't be our fault the game or console is messing up.

I also haven't received the update and I've played more than 5hrs, although this wasn't until after the update was released.

You're not missing anything. The new version is horrible. I loaded it up once and went straight back to the Xbox One Edition. Menus, inventory, crafting, skins, add-ons, everything but walking around and digging/mining has been ruined to look and function
like the mobile version on your tablet. Avoid it.

Did you buy the physical disc version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition? Or did you buy the digital download version?

If you have bought the digital download version, simply download the "Minecraft" without the "Xbox One Edition" from the Xbox Marketplace for free.

If you have bought the physical disc version of the game, your only option is to buy the Minecraft version without the "Xbox One Edition" in the title to be able to get the Aquatic update as well as the Cats and Pandas update.

They removed it and replaced it with a brand-new update which was just titled Minecraft. So it was the same version across all platforms. You should still be able to get Minecraft Xbox One Edition on disc.

I noticed this note on the Mojang support page for transferring worlds on Xbox Consoles: "Please note:
It’s not possible to transfer a world directly from Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition to the new version of Minecraft for Xbox One. To do this, you will need to first transfer the world to Xbox One Edition
and then to the new version of Minecraft."

If I'm not mistaken Minecraft Xbox One Edition was upgraded to the new version of Minecraft with the BTU but based on that note you would have to upload the worlds to the Xbox One edition and then to the newest version of Minecraft on Xbox One. I'm not sure
if this has anything to do with the issue but I figured it was worth noting.

Yes, both my Xbox 360 and Xbox One are fully updated. Minecraft Xbox One Edition or Legacy Edition and the Xbox one Better Together Edition are not the same. The BTU is an inferior version of Xbox One Minecraft Edition based off of the Pocket Edition for
phone. It has extreme lag, chaotic menu system and broken redstone functions. I run Xbox One Edition not the BTU. So transferring to the new version of Minecraft for Xbox One has no relevance to me. They even state you need to transfer it to the Xbox One Edition
(the version I use) first which you can do. But once it is transferred to that edition it can not be used on that same edition.

Thanks for keeping us updated with your replies. If the version of Minecraft you're using on disc is the Minecraft: Xbox One edition, then to update to the new Minecraft (Better Together), you'll need to purchase the game as it is a wholly different version.
The free update from Minecraft: Xbox One edition to the new Minecraft edition (Better Together) ended on January 30th 2018.
