Minecraft: Xbox one edition cross platform not working

Currently, cross-platform only works for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition and Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is standalone, as far as I'm aware, and will be until the Better Together update which is to be released "this
summer".

Like Doc Holiday said Minecraft has 2 versions playable on Xbox One(Bedrock or Xbox One Edition), but what you were hoping for doesn't work. I will say though, If you get the Bedrock edition, which is just called Minecraft in the store, you'll be able
to do cross-platform and play with people on Mobile & people using the Windows 10 edition.

You would have to have another Xbox. The games do not work cross-platform. There is a Windows 10 edition of Minecraft that you could each play using a computer.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live. The Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play between the Xbox editions and other editions of Minecraft.

Playstation currently doesn't allow cross platform play with Xbox yet.

As for playing against PC players, you will need a game that supports cross platform play.

Examples for such games are:

• Minecraft (the one without the "Xbox One Edition" in the name, and the Windows 10 Minecraft version. Java Minecraft on PC won't work).
• The Forza games on PC like Forza 7, Forza Horizon 3
• Sea of Thieves
• Gears of War 4
• State of Decay 2

Most other games from other publishers (i.e. not Microsoft Game Studios) are probably unable to play cross platform. So you won't be able to play FIFA or Call of Duty with your PC friends.
