Minecraft won’t update

Minecraft says it needs to update and then says it has but when I try to launch it still tries to make me update

Hi, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Just a friendly reminder though that if there is an update, you should see it on your updates tab, and even when launching the game you will receive a prompt wherein you can update the game.

I myself am still running Minecraft version 1.19.20 and there is no update available.

It's odd that your friend is already running the 1.19.3 version of the game.

You're welcome and thanks for the update. Do you happen to have an external hard drive plugged into your console? or is the game installed on your external hard drive? A corrupted drive may cause issues as well.

I have here steps that we can try, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

"1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. "

If that didn't work we may need to uninstall and reinstall the game, Karin.

Have you tried to run the tool first?

Please, run the Gaming Services Repair Tool for PC in the Xbox app on PC before installing any Minecraft update.

Using this tool updates the Gaming Services to version 19.87.13001.0, which will avoid the update error.

Below are instructions on running the tool;

Launch the Xbox app on PC.

Click your Profile picture.

Click on Support.

Click on Gaming Services Repair Tool

Click on Start Troubleshooting.
