    Minecraft with Macbook but windows version


    So I got a new macbook as a gift and I've downloaded minecraft on there but I decided I want to get optifine and some shaders since I never have been able to in the past (I had a crappy low storage hp laptop before). I needed to use 1.18.2 for optifine but when I tried to go and select and play 1.18.2 it had an error that said:

    "Failed to download file.
    Error details: Couldn't select a valid version of the Java runtime to download."

    I looked up what to do and tried everything including downloading java 17 but it still didn't work.

    If anyone knows any other tricks for windowsOS to solve this it would help a lot b/c the only thing coming up is to "download java 17" and, again, that hasn't worked for me.

    Sadly, it is because it is not compatible with MacBook. The supported Minecraft Version for your device is Minecraft Java Edition only.

    If ever you get another Windows device you will be able to play both.

    I'm so sorry for what you're going through, here are some steps you can take to try to fix this issue:

    Check your Internet connection. Make sure your MacBook Air is connected to the Internet and has a stable connection.

    Try downloading the Minecraft launcher again. You can download the launcher from the Minecraft website.

    Try launching the launcher from the downloads folder. Once you have downloaded the launcher, locate the Downloads folder on your MacBook Air.

    Open the folder and double-click the "Minecraft Launcher" file.

    Try launching the launcher from the Finder app. Open the Finder app and locate the "Minecraft Launcher" file. Double click the file to start it.

    Sign in to your Minecraft account. If you are not already signed in to your Minecraft account, click the "Sign In" button in the launcher.

    Check your version of Minecraft. Make sure your MacBook Air has the latest version of Minecraft. You can check your version of Minecraft by clicking the "Help" button in the launcher and selecting "About Minecraft."

    Macbook: I think the hardware being an Apple is a detail (but maybe booting on a windows installed on USB disk is not).

    Operating System Version : as said in initial post my Windows version is up to date (build 1903).

    If you get a new macbook, you will be able to run Minecraft without issue. If you don't get a new macbook, then you need to reassess your priorities. :)

    The Version that you say Minecraft Windows 10 its only for Windows PC.
