Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - Unable to join friend's world, but can join servers

Minecraft Windows 10 Edition.

My friend X and my friends can join my game server.

I, however, am the only one who can not enter the game server of my friend X.

When I try to enter his server (both on the Xbox and from the game itself), he can not locate his server and then an error message pops up "Unable to connect to the world".

We've verified the network with the Xbox app and it's all right.

The problem only exists between me and him.

What could be it?

Im playing on xbox but i downloaded the windows 10 edition, and im having trouble while joining a friend’s world, it says that it wasnt able to connect to the server

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

To clarify, are you on Minecraft (Xbox One) or Minecraft Windows 10 edition? This is important because they are both different versions.

Can you join official servers without issue?

Besides "unable to join world" what else does the error say?

Are both of you on the same version? You can confirm with the version number on the home screen of Minecraft.

Please answer those questions for us so we can provide better assistance.

I am having the same problem, however, for me, it is my friend who is on the Xbox and I am on the Windows 10 version. He cant join the world that I created anymore. He can, however, join me if I create a new world and I can join any of his old
worlds. I Have a theory on what the problem is. We were playing the game fine one afternoon and we both had to get off for a bit to do other things. When I came back it said that my game was updated and some bugs were fixed. From then on my friend can't
join any previous worlds I created but he can join new ones. You will encounter a similar problem on the java edition of Minecraft if you try to connect to a server with a wrong client version. It appears as if the clients updated but the world it's self
did not which is why my friend can't join. That is my theory at least. I did what you said above and it and it still doesn't work.

So... it appears you're having problems connecting to your friends worlds in Minecraft for Windows 10.

I would have them check their in-game settings in Minecraft under the main menu there, and make sure that Online play is enabled. Sometimes this is switched to being disabled and therefore they cannot join any online games and friends cannot join their game
either. Both you and your friends should check in Minecraft settings and make sure that Online play is enabled and friends are allowed to join. Then you can select which permissions you would like to enable for your friends when they join your world after
that.
