I have tried re-installing the game it is the same.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Regardless of the game version it was supposed to have a singleplayer button in your game menu, by pressing this button you could create a world and then you could play alone normally, so I suggest you try to uninstall the game and install it again, as this doesn't it's normal, restart your computer as well and make sure you're using the latest version of Windows.
