Minecraft Will Not Open/Update

Hello! My cousin is having this trouble on his Xbox.

To start, he has two of the same Minecraft’s on his console (Non-Xbox One Version) And when he tries to uninstall one of them, it doesn’t work. And when he tries to open it, it says that it needs an update, but when he tries to update it doesn’t work.

When he tries to open the game, it says:

“Connect time charges may apply when installing updates. The size of the update is 0kb, This could take a while. We’ll let you know when it’s ready.

We’ve Tried:

Resetting Xbox (Turning it Off and On)

Unplugging Xbox Power Cord and Plugging it Back In.

And I tried to look it up, but there’s no topic for it.

It didn’t work, when he goes to his library on the app, Minecraft isn’t there, but it shows on his console. And when he tries to download it to his console via app, the Install to Console button cannot be pressed.

Any other solutions?

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with Minecraft.

• Do you have any external storage units plugged into the console?

• Have you already tried canceling the update for Minecraft? if so, may I ask what happened when you tried to do so?

If canceling the update doesn't work, please give this a try:

- Go to Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features, and enable remote features for this console.

- Restart the console.

- If you haven't already, download the Xbox mobile app and link it to your console.

- On the app, go to "My Library" > Games > Minecraft > "Launch on Console".

Please let me know if this makes any difference in your installation queue.

Hello, AJ! We did the soft factory reset and at first it worked, but then we he tried to open minecraft, it said that he needed to renew his Xbox Game Pass, and he’s never gotten game pass before. And I know for sure that you don’t need game pass for Minecraft.

In that case, please try doing a soft factory reset on the console. To do so, go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset Xbox > Keep games and apps.

Please keep in mind you will need an internet connection and your account details (email and password) to complete the setup process.

**Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. If your console has been constantly connected to the internet and Xbox Live services, your saved data should be backed up on the cloud.

Once the reset is done, check if Minecraft is still showing up under "My games and apps" and on the installation queue.

Did you get that message as soon as you tried to launch the game? if so, that would mean your cousin is not currently signed in to the account that owns the game.
