Minecraft upgrading?

I have some questions about upgrading from Minecraft 360 edition to Xbox one edition. They said that if you own a copy of Minecraft Xbox 360 it would be cheaper. we would only have to pay a lower price for Minecraft on Xbox one. An upgrading fee if you will.
But Xbox one does not have a download history list. so how would marketplace know if you already own Minecraft on Xbox? How would the Upgrading fee be applied? So basically how does this whole upgrading thing work? wouldn't you have to prove that you have
downloaded Minecraft for the Xbox 360 in order to upgrade? Thank you for taking the time to read and possibly respond. Xbox for life. Keep it gaming.

I'm pretty sure Minecraft is just Minecraft. One game, Minecraft. There is also Minecraft story mode, that is a very different game, a telltale series.

 

Lego Worlds XB1 (21 Feb 2017)

Is this like Minecraft? I along with a few other adults have spent quite a lot of time building a city etc in Minecraft, but if this is anything like Minecraft then I might give it a shot as I use to love Lego

 

I'm guessing your gamer profile leaves a "digital" foot print online, because you have to of played Minecraft Xbox 360 online, before you can get Minecraft Xbox One at the discounted price.

 

From my understanding, because disc-based owners of Minecraft for the 360 wouldn't have the download/purchase history, if you've ever played it online, than you're eligible for the discount.

 

I was wondering too. Pretty generous of them to offer up the discount to anyone who's played online considering all it might take is a friend lending another friend their disc, just to get them the discount. I have to imagine there would be more to it than
just that, but that's what it sounds like from all the accounts I've read so far.

My concern is more with the DLC and save files. I've purchased quite a bit of the DLC simply because I want to support some of it, but having heard about how some of it will be transferred over and some of it won't be due to licensing issues, I find that
this has put the brakes on my purchases. The Marvel dlc in particular is disappointing because I believe that is one of the packs that won't be making it over. Are there plans to simply sell Xbox One versions of that same dlc? If so that would be great. I
can just wait until the game releases to get those on X1.

 

The content we purchase on XBL isn't owned by us, instead will receive an End User Agreement to said content which ensures that we have unlimited legal use of the content . It's most likely that X1 marketplace will discount any profile which owns a valid
End User Agreement for Minecraft 360.

That said, I'm quite sure that End User Agreements are not issued to profile's via disk versions of games. I would imagen that players with disk copy's will have to trade their copy's into retailers in exchange for a discounted downloadable version of the
game.

 

The fact that we don't own the game code/content is a given and something known for years, it's the transferring over part that concerns me. I have a license to use said content, and have not in any way broken that agreement with the developer. In this case
the developer is offering to transfer said content so that our "license" agreement may continue...and that's awfully nice of them. However it does nothing to change my mind on purchases. I refuse to enter any new "agreements" with them until I know for certain
the content we agreed on will transfer. Why would I buy stuff for my 360 version only to then have it rendered useless because I'm only playing the xbone version and it wouldn't transfer over?

I'm waiting until they figure it all out before I buy any more.

As for trading in the disc, I'm not so sure about that. Why would any developer wish to inconvenience their costumers by making it mandatory for them to have to return to a brick and mortar store to return their discs in exchange for a digital upgrade? I've
never had that happen before with any other software. If anything, I would see them having no issues with one playing the game on both their old consoles, as well as the new consoles. So long as the consumer has entered into their license agreements faithfully
that is.

^^ No. You'll have to re-buy it. Having said that, why would you want to?! The One's version is superior to the 360's.
