Minecraft unable to join world

I have two kids who are trying to play together in the same world. Both have added each other as a friend in their Xbox live accounts. The child who started the world has turned on “visible to LAN players” in the world options and sent an invite to the other. When the other receives the invite, he accepts and the game attempts to connect, but after a moment a dialogue appears that says unable to join world.

We (I) have deleted each kid from the other’s friends in their respective Xbox accounts and then added each back. I’ve signed in an out of the game and the Xbox accounts, force quit the app, shut down and restarted the iPads.

Multiplayer is enabled in the world, No one is using a VPN on our network, everyone’s game and IOS is up to date. Xbox privacy and other relevant settings are set to allow them to join another persons world.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Please answer the following questions to assist you properly:

Where are you playing? On Xbox, PC or phone? <The same for your brother, include Xbox model, Windows version, phone OS depending on the answer>

When this started to happen? Or is this the first time that you try to play with your brother?

Is the happening with Minecraft Java or Bedrock? (Java if you're on PC)

Both of you are connected to the same wifi network or are you in a different network/place?

What did you tried so far to fix this?

In that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed.

In the meantime, please delete your brother from your friends list. (Ask them to do the same with you)

After that re-add him and try again

And check if your privacy (and his) settings are allowed for everything:

I cannot join my friend's world ( he is ps4 and im xbox ). We are both NAT type open and i've tried everything to join, it keeps saying unable to connect to world and i desperately need to play. Thanks, I appreciate any help

Xbox and ps4 are not crossplay at the moment for minecraft. Pc is on the other hand. Hope I helped
