Minecraft unable to access game after migration

Hi all,

I have just migrated my account to my Microsoft account and was asked to pick a username, let's call it "Username A". Because I've always been playing modded, I now tried logging into GDLauncher (3rd Party Modded launcher) with my Mojang Account which didn't work because I've migrated it. Afterward, I tried with my Microsoft account, and it then told me I do not own the game.

I go back to minecraft.net to log in, and now even with the same Microsoft account, when logged in, the username is not "Username A" which I picked after migration, but "Username B" which is my past Xbox username I believe (I hardly touch this account, hence I cannot fully remember). I am prompted to buy the game despite my already owning the game and have migrated it to this exact same Microsoft account.

I tried logging in with my Mojang account but all attempts failed as I was redirected to log in with my Microsoft account. Yet all attempts with my Microsoft account logged in with "Username B" and apparently I have not purchased the game despite me having successfully migrated the Mojang account to this exact Microsoft account.

I have checked account.xbox and it shows "Username A" but I am not an owner of Minecraft and am still prompted to purchase the game.

Some details:

I bought Minecraft Java back in October 2019, and still have the email receipt for proof.

Migrated in May 2022, migration was done successfully with an email to inform me of the success.

Does anyone have experience with this issue and fixed it? Or will any Microsoft support staff be able to assist in this?

Would be grateful if anyone could come up with a solution, if not I would like to request a refund for the game so I can have a fresh purchase.

That's an strange issue.

Could you try download and install the Launcher marked as Windows 7/8 from this page - https://minecraft.net/download

After that try sign in with the Microsoft account that you used to migrate the game.

If still doesn't work, maybe you migrate your Mojang account to another Microsoft account, it would be worth give it a shot try sign in with another Microsoft accounts (or emails) that you had

The last option is contact Mojang support with proof of purchase and see if they're able to find the correct email linked to this purchase

You could try adding your Gmail address as a secondary alias for your Microsoft account to see if that can do the trick

Also, if you migrate your account todag/recently in some cases can take a while (I heard some people had to wait up to 72 hours) to transfer completely all the account and license

Thanks for the quick response, hope you are doing great as well.

I have tried the Windows 7/8 Launcher, I'm still getting the same results, either play demo or purchase the game.\

I am sure this account is the one I migrated it into, as I have no other Microsoft accounts.

I realize I may have left out that when I first bought the game in 2019, I was using a Gmail to register into Mojang, hence my Mojang account's email is Gmail and the proof of purchase was sent to that Gmail inbox. Could this cause an issue because the game was not originated from a Microsoft account?

I will contact Mojang support on this as well.
