Minecraft saves show up as dirt blocks.

Minecraft works. The game loads just fine. The background moves, the music plays. My problem arises when I go to the Load tab. All the world's preview pictures show up as
dirt blocks and are unresponsive to the A button.

I have tried going offline, uninstalling the game, performing the hard resets (holding the main Xbox button button down AND unplugging), going back online and reinstalling the game. Same dirt blocks, same unresponsiveness. If I go to the Create tab, I can
load up a new world just fine, I can even save it and go back into it; the new saves don't have dirt blocks for the preview picture. As with others who have posted this problem, I have spent countless hours in my worlds and I would really like to be able to
    have them back.

After some research, it sounds like maybe the save files are corrupt. Any way of fixing them? If there is no way to get them back, I guess it's cool, I can always start new ones again (ugh), but I would like to find the root cause so this doesn't keep happening.

The problem first happened yesterday (January 18th, 2016), but two days ago (the 17th) everything was working fine. The only texture pack I have installed is the City Pack and it doesn't matter how many people are signed in to the Xbox.

I don't really see how moving the files to an external hard drive, factory resetting my Xbox, and then transferring them back would solve anything, but if it's worked for someone else then I guess it's worth a shot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    :)

  2. How to build...DOWN?

I use dirt blocks, easy to collect and easy to tear down once complete. You don't need as many as you do with sand either, seeing as sand drops when place in the air against another block. Dirt stays placed. You won't be able to go under a block though,
you have to build another platform from the ground up to be able to get there. You can crouch to keep from falling off the block while leaning over to place another block on the side as well.

If you played on the old tutorial, it is gone to make room for the new one. Samething happened to me, 11 months gone! T

The block of dirt showed up for me when the console save and the cloud save are not the same. Try loading the newest save. Better days.....

Minecraft saves show up as dirt blocks.

Assuming you are using the xbox one version then your saves are stored in two locations. The save cache on the internal hard drive and the cloud.

Now if your saves are corrupt it's possible that going into the system settings then storage then selecting Clear local saved games can delete the corrupt saves on your hard drive.

After this the xbox will pull the hopefully healthy saves off the cloud next time you start the game.

Unfortunately though there is no way to know if your saves have been successfully synced to the cloud so there is a risk of losing the saves that haven't synced.

Factory resetting works in a similar way but that will delete everything off the internal drive and not just saves. Again they will be downloaded from the cloud next time you start a game.

So provided you have healthy copies of the saves in the cloud doing either of these should fix the issue.

Although like I said there is a risk that you could lose saves if they didn't get synced before they got corrupted.

    Some Useful Tips For Newcomers

I apologize for the animal breeding tip.

I was led to believe that breeding was in Minecraft XBLA. It's not. At least, not yet.

    Again, sorry.

I just plant trees on dirt blocks without tilling them and they still grow into trees. What is the advantage of tilling a dirt block before planting a tree?

Lost My Main Minecraft World :(

I make a lot of different survival and creative worlds and use a lot of them oftenly, today I was playing a world (saved it)then Imade a new account for my friend to play as then when I went back on to minecraft half of my world were missing. All having
    that little dirt block icon.

I hope there is a fix cos that's a long time down the drain

Is there a way to stimulate growth of grass/green dirt?

You have to have grass touching the dirt blocks for it to grow. Try using a piston to push a block of grass or just make a path way from grass to your isolated dirt out of dirt.
