    Minecraft realm for family, children can't login


    I'm a parent who plays local LAN Minecraft games with my family. I have my kid set up on a PC and he plays that way. He also has an iPad and now with PE it seems he can join games that way too.

    I wanted to investigate setting up a realm so we could join a shared game instead of one person having to host it. I tried the 30-day free realm to start, just to prove everyone can connect.

    My child's Microsoft Account is set up in our family, and has reasonable restrictions assigned to it. When I sign into his Xbox live account on the iPad and try to join the realm, he gets an error:

    "You cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how your account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com."

    I've toyed with several of the privacy settings on the child's account, but none of the changes seem to make a difference. Is this a bug?

    Child account can't sign into Minecraft Realms

    The children show up in Microsoft Family but not on XBox.com so the settings can't be changed so that they can access Minecraft Realms.

    Enable Minecraft Realms on Microsoft Family

    My son plays Minecraft on an iPad.

    He wants to play Minecraft with a friend online. Minecraft have a product for exactly this: Minecraft Realms.

    I've signed up for Realms myself and I am paying.

    But he can't access it. Minecraft says something to the effect "multiplayer" needs to be enabled in XBox.

    I signed him up to an XBox live account

    I signed up to an XBox live account

    I made him a family members

    With some effort I can even find the options page.

    But there is nothing there that looks remotely like "Enable multiplayer Minecraft realms."

    How does one do this?

    I'm looking at the Microsoft family page (Sign in to your Microsoft account). There is nothing under Acitity or Content Restrictions.

    Is an Xbox account the same as an Microsoft Account?

    - I can't find any "family" options in XBox, it reverts to Microsoft when I hunt

    - to be honest the XBox account page is just a blizzard of menu options

    It looks like I had to sign his account out from the iPad Minecraft and back in for the changes to take effect. Now I'm just narrowing down which settings must be on.

    Did you make any progress on this issue? Guess I have the very same issue: Child Accounts not able to access Minecraft Realms

    Interestingly local LAN games are working for all, if Multiplayer is allowed in privacy & online settings. Only Realms aren't working.

    If you have your settings set to block joining multiplayer games, you can’t join any multiplayer games in Minecraft, including shared local worlds, Realms or servers. To enable multiplayer in Minecraft, make sure this setting is set to ‘Allow.’

    However, just like ASCllnaut, that setting was already turned on for my children. In other words I'm in the same boat, we can play on the LAN but not on a realm.

    Thank you very much for your reply. There must be something in the settings, as I can add myself, so I can play with one of the children, but I can't add the two children together. I don't want to allow them access to everything, but do want them to be able to play games together, as their own login. They're allowed content up to 12 years and are allowed Minecraft multiplayer and Realms and to create and follow clubs, in the Xbox Family App. It must be in these settings, but not sure what the magic combination is.

    Hi there, if you renewed your Realm in minecraft but still it doesn't renewed, try sign out your account in minecraft and re login, I hope is helpful
