Minecraft pricing issue and the upgrade discount

I have Minecraft for Xbox 360 on disc. I've heard you can buy the digital version for Xbox One at a discount if you have the 360 version but the game still lists for full price on the console.

Is there something special I have to do? My profile is the same on the 360 and One and I have saves and achievements for the game as normal. Is the discount only valid if I have the digital version for 360?

Minecraft Xbox One Edition Discount

There have been a lot of reports about the discounted price no longer showing up, I'm am unsure as to why that is but it may be because the offer has expired. For now, read through this article:

After 4JStudios returns from their holiday break they will most likely post an update on this issue if the offer has indeed expired.

Question, Have you purchased Minecraft on Xbox 360 and connected it to your profile? Also have you tried to Actually purchase Minecraft Xbox One Edition? You should take a look at this post:

Many people have been having problems. Some with the disc version, some without it. Some people have to click into the game then back out then in again. Others have to actually do a search for it and not click on the game on screen. Others have to wait for
the license to register which means not clicking in right away when you boot up. And others just can't get it yet.

 

Interesting that my nephew (the one who plays the most) can see the discount as normal. I could use his account but my account is the one that pays for games, I don't want to add payment information to his account.

 

You literally started playing the 360 version right before you posted this thread. I would suggest to wait at least 24-48 hours before complaining about the lack of a discounted price.

Yes. As I said, my nephew is the one playing and I'm the one buying.

None of the places I did my research have any indication time played is something important. In fact some people that didn't have any problems have played just until they won their first achievement while others that are not able to use the discount had
the game for months.

Obviously I'll wait (I'm definitely not paying full price for a game I have for PC and 360) but if I had to guess I would think time played is not the issue here.

 

^^ I'm not talking about time played.... i'm talking about the fact that you played the game for the first time on your account and then immediately went to the Store looking for the discounted price. It may take 24-48 hours before the Store updates itself
to show you the new price. If, after the 2 days, you still don't see the correct price, I would phone support.

Yesterday I played my first match online and today it finally worked.

So I think you where right, time really was a factor there. Pretty strange that I saw reports of people that got it to work right away but maybe it's not a fixed amount of time and I was just unlucky.

There's also the posibility that playing online triggered it but I think it was really that it needed time to process.

Anyway, thank you and to all of you for the help. Now of I go play some Minecraft with my nephew.

 

i play my 360 through my xbox one, does that have anything to do with it
