Minecraft pocket edition multiplayer error

So me and my friend downloaded minecraft pocket edition yesterday

I have java and he doesn't have a working PC right now so we decided we will play on pe together for now

But there's an "unable to connect to world" error when I (or he) want to join each other's worlds

And when we try to play on a server with others, it's like we don't play on the same server, everything matches but we have different chat history, and we just can't find each other no matter what

We tried on every server on the list and nothing, still the same issue

We tried reinstalling the game, we both play using wifi and a phone, we have each other added as friends in game, versions of minecraft match, multiplayer is on, interent connection is great, I don't know what is going on anymore

How to fix it? Please help, it's really annoying we can't play together and a waste of money as well

Also English is not my first language, so sorry for anything weird, I'm just mad and decided to post something

Minecraft Pocket Edition does not have an option for voice chat, only text chat in the multiplayer version (https://blogs.windows.com/devices/2015/09/18/how-to-play-multiplayer-minecraft-pocket-edition/).
Your only options are for them call their cousin through the phone or over skype, or to use the Xbox companion app on their device. (https://www.xbox.com/en-US/console-companion-app)
