minecraft on phone cant see chat

i was playing on a minecraft server (mineville city i think? doesn't really matter lol) on my phone a few days ago and i kept saying stuff in the chat, saying stuff like "someone please tell me if you could see my chats" and nobody replied so i just thought
nobody liked talking but then i added a person from that server on xbox and i asked if they could see my chats and they said no. i then asked if people were chatting and they said that they were. i don't know what's wrong and i really need help because i wanna
be able to talk to peopleeeee
