minecraft offline multi-player stopped working

I can't find anything new on this topic. Anyway, I'm looking for some help to find out why the offline multi-player option stopped working on my xbox 360 version of minecraft. I bought the game for my kids at christmas. All of them played together for
about a month (split-screen mode), then it suddenly stopped working. Minecraft did have an recent update that I allowed which may have messed up my settings (I'm not sure). I'm not interested in setting up an xbox live account for all my kids. I just want
the split-screen function/ option to work again. Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you,

Minecraft multi player off line

After the latest update minecraft my son can't play with multi player offline. Tried to disconnect wifi, no result. Player two cannot enter the game. Please help!

How do you play Minecraft with friends? Multiplayer?

My son has Minecraft. We have XBox Live Gold. He has friends for multi-player/online. How does he play multi-player for MineCraft?!

Go to the Minecraft options, and check if there's any tick box for "Split screen mode".

Thanks but the only one I see is the option to change to horizontal split-screen. The way it worked before was just to hit start on a second controller. The split-screen would appear, then choose your profile, and start playing. Now the start button does
nothing. Multi-player works on every other game with that option so I'm pretty sure the problem is with minecraft. I'll keep playing around with it. Thanks for the feedback.

Source? Well, first off all, the DLC that came with the signature edition of the game is unusable offline right now. And it's not co-op/multi-player only DLC. Some of it is weaponry that you use in single player campaign as well. When I asked about this
at the official forums, one of the Ubi representatives said this will likely be the case for the new premium DLC.

The DLC that's coming out next week is valid for both online and offline co-op/multi-player, and also includes weapons that you can use in the single player campaign. And then there's the fact that the game supports offline system link multi-player. To use
the DLC though you will still have to be logged into the Ubisoft server through the game even if you want to use it in an "offline" system link game.
