    Minecraft not updating


    we own the xbox one minecraft disc and were informed that we could update the game for free, but when we click on the free Update it wants to charge us for it, why?

    we owned the xbox 360 minecraft also, but as this is not reverse compatible, we had to pirchase it again, damned if we have to do it a third time!

    Minecraft for Windows 10 and Code Connection for Minecraft

    After updating "Minecraft for Windows 10" to version1.7, it can not maintain connection with "Code Connection for Minecraft". It is disconnected shortly after connection.

    I think the free upgrade was a temporary offer, so you'll have to pay for the upgrade.

    This offer is over from January of this year.

    "If you own the disc version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and you have played for at least 5 hours or purchased an item between September 2016 and September 2017, you will also receive a digital copy of Minecraft under Ready to install.
    This offer is valid until January 31, 2018, after which time you will need to purchase a digital version of Minecraft."

    I'm having the same issue. I was just playing minecraft today. I saw the update and it wouldn't let me update so I uninstalled minecraft to see if it would install the update when I reinstalled the game and now can't download minecraft at all.

    Hi Dylan,

    Thanks for keeping us updated with your replies. If the version of Minecraft you're using on disc is the Minecraft: Xbox One edition, then to update to the new Minecraft (Better Together), you'll need to purchase the game as it is a wholly different version.
    The free update from Minecraft: Xbox One edition to the new Minecraft edition (Better Together) ended on January 30th 2018.
