    Minecraft not allowing add friends


    My daughter can't add friends/participate in multiplayer games.

    The message is "You Need Permission - You cannot add friends because of how your Microsoft Account is set up... and then indicates I can change the settings in ms/accountsettings".

    I've gone into accountsettings and changed things so they are the same as my son's but still no luck. She can't join the world that her brother has created in Minecraft. They are both using iPad. She is listed as a friend on my son's account/device but she
    can't add him as a friend.

    Any ideas much appreciated. One very annoyed little girl thinks it's not fair!

    I am having the same issue and when going to the settings on the family account, there is no option to change any settings allowing my son to add friends on Minecraft on his switch. I can set screen time restrictions, content restrictions, etc. But nothing
    for allowing him to add friends on applictions.

    I have same issue for my kid, she is not able to add or join her friends minecraft and her settings are already changed to allow.

    The computer denies her from adding friends or joining other servers.

    Ok, so today (4.9.20) I can't add anybody on my friends list, (I'm on Xbox One) and I've tried from multiple platfroms to try to add my friend back for some reason it made him and me unfriended each other, and now we both can't add each other, and I don't
    know what to do about it. So it'd be nice if I could find out how to solve this, because I don't want to have him removed forever (he even told me that he didn't block me and I didn't block him, and it shows an error message everytime I try to add him back).
    Also, please let me know if this is happening to anybody else.
    Hi there, had same trouble just yesterday, not just on the console but on the companion itself and the website as well... all it took really was some waiting (5-10 minutes), it seemed that I have made too many changes on my account in a very short amount
    of time, so all it was basically just a small cooldown. It might be the same for you. Try again in a little while.

    asks this question, thousands of people have the same problem, I've found the answer but the thread is closed so I cannot post the answer there! Thanks, Micro$oft!

    Basically, you have to sign in to account.xbox.com with the adult account, then go to Profile > Privacy Settings, then click the game name of your child, There are then lots of options.

    Select the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab

    At the bottom, change Add Friends to Allow and click Submit.

    At this point, Minecraft still will not allow you to add friends. You have to actually sign out of Microsoft and sign back in again. It's no good just closing Minecraft and opening again!

    In Minecraft, go back to the main screen, then click Profile.

    Click the Cog wheel, to go to User Profile and Settings.

    Click Sign out of your Microsoft Account.

    Click Sign Out.

    Then click Sign in for Free!

    Click Save to Microsoft Account (if you want, probably better than Leave on Device)

    It should then take you to the Microsoft sign-in screen. If it doesn't, try leaving Minecraft and starting it again.

    Sign in, then click Let's Play!

    Hopefully, you'll now be able to add friends.
