Minecraft multiplayer not working on Xbox X/S

Thanks John, very helpful. I had the privacy settings set as you recommended. I got multiplayer local to work by connecting the second controller which gave the option to add another user with a Microsoft account or add a guest. Thanks for confirming that I would need a subscription to allow multiplayer online to work. We’re good for now!

I understand you need assistance with your child's Privacy Settings. Please make sure that all settings under the Privacy tab and Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety are set to "Allow" or "Everyone". It should be like the screenshot below.

Also, make sure that these settings are all set to "Allow" as well;

- You can see and upload community creations

- You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text

- Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites

If all is set to "Allow" and it still doesn't work, make sure that you have an active Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate.

every Xbox 360 and or Xbox one game you can play via backwards compatibility on your series X/S share the same multiplayer network, so yes you can play those games with your friends across different generations of Xbox. However for future games releasing
on Xbox one and series X/S separately, I can't confirm that it will work a 100%.

Yes, some multiplayer games on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S can cross play with the PS5.

The Series S/X version is only playable on the Series S/X and will not work on the One. The Xbox One version will work on both.
