Minecraft migration issue. Mojang can't help

My two sons were prompted to migrate their profiles, they sat with me and did the exact same thing at the exact same time, one migrated fine, the other didn't. After multiple stages of escalation through the Mojang support team, this is the response I received....

"Looking into our systems, it appears that there are two separate Microsoft accounts, one with the Gamertag "St chicken7351" and another with the other Gamertag you provided previously, "Canadianpo8o". As the Demo Mode is showing up when signing in with the Gamertag "St chicken7351", it appears that your copy of Minecraft: Java Edition was migrated to the other Microsoft account."

So can anyone tell me what I'm actually supposed to do now?

I recommend talking to them to see if it is possible to unlink the Mojang account from this Microsoft account and migrate it to the Microsoft account you want/need.

I'll certainly try, but they basically said there's nothing they can do to help.....I'm very frustrated because this has been going on for weeks!

That's normal, you can't access the old Mojang account after the migration, you need to use the email you used to migrate the Mojang account to, in the launcher you need to select Minecraft Java and then Microsoft login and then use the email you use during the migration process

for all issues pertaining to Mojang & Microsoft Account Migration you will have to contact Mojang Support. Microsoft does not have any power or purview over the process. You can check your status, understand what happened to your account and more - they have all the information. We can only help with issues with the Microsoft Account - Java can only be purchased through Mojang.
