Minecraft Live on Xbox one and Windows 10 - Child accounts can't join realm

I'm adding my post to the others to help bring visibility to the issue.

I have created a realm and invited my children's accounts to it. they can play multiplayer lan and even public servers. They can see the invite, however when they try to join my realm it says they can't join due to privacy settings.

I've tried changing their accounts to allow everything on the three tabs in Sign in to your Microsoft account to no avail and yes, I waited 20 minutes for the settings to take effect, rebooted the
xbox ones and the Windows 10 computer.

I also looked around the realm creation and invite settings from within the game and nothing jumped out.

It looks like the only setting that needs to be open is "Join multiplayer games" on the center "Xbox One/windows 10 On..." tab. For the record, yes this is set to allow for all three accounts.

    For reference -

    How to Stay Safe Online

    “Join Multiplayer Games” Settings
If you have your settings set to block joining multiplayer games, you can’t join any multiplayer games in Minecraft, including shared local worlds, Realms or servers. To enable multiplayer in Minecraft, make sure this setting is set to ‘Allow.’"

The part that kills me is they are able to get on to the public servers / mini games, but not into my family realm.

I'm curious at this point - is anyone having problems with Adults trying to join realms as well? Most of the posts are about child accounts, but I haven't seen comments about Adults not being able to join a realm they have been invited to.

    Thanks

    :)

Cannot connect childs Minecraft account to my Realm

    Hi there,

I have an adult Microsoft account for Win10 and I have created child accounts for my daughters, also on Win 10. One daughter can accept my Minecraft realm invite and join the game fine but my other child cannot on their account. I first made sure both child
accounts had the same permission but it didn't help. Then I set the child account to full permissions but still cannot accept invite nor join the realm. I amended permissions on the general privacy tab in "family" for my daughters account and also the Xbox
360 and Xbox One tabs, though I understand it works on the Xbox One account primarily for Win 10 Minecraft. To be clear, this is on the Sign in to your Microsoft account page.

We can see the invite, but when clicking on it, it says:

error: You cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how your account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com.

If I launch the realm on my computer, my daughter can see it in the Minecraft Friend's tab under Joinable Friends. When she joins, she gets an error message saying:

Failed attempting to join realm. Please try again later. Unable to connect to realm.

Again, my other daughter can access this fine and I've tried amending every setting in both the Microsoft Family and the Xbox website setting, but no joy.

We are all on the same build of Windows 10 Minecraft and also Windows 10 plus latest updates. To remove any doubt, we all own separate and official copies.

Any help would be most appreciated as we've run out of things to try.

Child Accounts not able to access Minecraft Realms

Using a child account my children aren't able to see the family realm they have been invited to. Neither on XBOX One X nor on Windows 10. They can see the invitation, but they aren't able to accept them due to privacy and online security settings. As parent
I already tried to escalate their privileges up to a full adult account to no avail. My Wife however is able to connect to the Realm. If one Adult is already logged in on the XBOX One X to the realm child accounts can join the Realm in split screen mode without
    problems.

I'd expect my children to be able to connect to the family realm using their XBOX Live accounts on Windows 10 and on XBOX One X without the need of an adult in split screen mode. Could you please tell me how to achieve this?

I've got the same problem (and many other people, e.g. Minecraft problem with multiplayer - parental control?)

My daughter can't accept invitation because of multiplayer settings (which are of course set correctly) using Windows 10 nor Android version.

My adventure with Realms ends without any chances to start. I'll don't have any reason to subscribe it Minecraft Live on Xbox one and Windows 10 - Child accounts can't join realm :(

Minecraft Live on Xbox one and Windows 10 - Child accounts can't join realm

OK, I took another crack at it tonight and this worked for me. If you try it, please reply to let people know if it worked for you.

I stopped trying in Sign in to your Microsoft account I moved to working in the console exclusively

    In the console,

    • I went into my Minecraft realm and sent an invitation to my child's account
    • I exited Minecraft
    • I made sure my child's account was signed out
    • I logged into my xbox one with my account and went to settings --> Account --> Family --> Child's settings
    • In the Account <child gamer Tag>'s privacy and online safety settings
    • I went into privacy & online safety --> Xbox Live Privacy --> and changed it to Adult Defaults "More Social" & selected swich
    • I went back 2 screens and went to Access to Content and then changed it to appropriate for ages up to 17
I left myself signed in and then signed in my child's account

From my child's account I went into Minecraft over to friends tab and accepted the invite and then logged into the realm, letting it load backup

    Success!!!

OK, now to lock things back down

    I quit out of minecraft

Signed off of my child's account

Went back into the child's settings:

Set the xbox privacy to Child defaults and hit switch

I then went view details and customize --> . communications & Multiplayer & Set allow for "you can join multiplayer games"

And then backed out of the profile.

    To test:

I kept my account logged in

    Signed into my child's account

Loaded mine craft and joined the realm

    And it worked!

Also, my son who also plays on a windows 10 computer can get in as well.

Caveat - I hope this makes sense

We have 4 xboxes & 4 users in the house (excessive I know). 2 users have xbox gold accounts. When either of the two users without gold accounts login (without someone with a gold account already logged in) , they can get to Minecraft but not into the realm.
So, looks like you need an xbox gold account to use minecraft realms.

I hope this helps someone else. I conquered the error, but need to buy two more xbox gold accounts if I want all 4 people to be able to log into their own xbox and play in the realm. sigh.

Can someone please answer a Minecraft Realms question?

Hey there! You're going to need to verify which version of Minecraft you have. There are two on the Xbox One that you could have.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is no longer supported. It's playable, but it can't be found in the Store and does not receive updates. This version of the game does not have Realms access.

Minecraft/Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition/Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (All just different names for the same game) is the version with Realms that are cross-compatible.

Java version (only available on PC) is not compatible with Xbox.

If your child's friend has the Realm set up on the correct version of Minecraft, you just need a Gold Subscription. Realm hosts pay the monthly fee to keep the Realm online. The friend will need to invite your friend/add them as a Realm member from their
Xbox or PC, then your child will receive a little envelope thing on their Minecraft menu. That is the Realm invitation. Once that's accepted, they should be able to join the Realm.
