Let me see if I can help. I want to ask some questions to clear this up and get to the heart of the problem:

• Have you engaged Minecraft support or looked through their forums for anything? They are the developers of the launcher/game and would be a great resource to use if you haven’t already. Minecraft Help | Mojang Support
  
• They are also the team we will need to engage to reverse or assist in any of the account migration issues
  
• You state that everything works when you use the Microsoft login, please clarify. The Microsoft login should be what is used going forward. All java/Mojang accounts will be migrated over time
  
• Are you experiencing the same issue on the other two laptops? This would indicate to me that this is specifically an account issue, and we would need to further involve Mojang

I clicked ‘Login’ and entered my credentials but am getting the error ‘Something went wrong in the login process. If the problem persists, check your internet connection.’

There are a few processes to go through if experiencing this issue. First off, try resetting the Microsoft Store with the following steps:

1. Press the Windows key and the R key simultaneously
   
2. A window will appear. Type in ‘WSReset’ and hit enter.
   

Also, ensure that you’re connected to the internet before trying to log in.

If neither of the previous methods worked, also ensure that the Xbox Identity Provider is installed via the following steps:

1. Install the Xbox App and login w/your account.
   
2. Click your account/name in upper left corner.
   
3. Click “Settings”.
   
4. Go to the “General" tab.
   
5. If you are missing dependencies, you will list some there.
   
6. If not installed, click “Install” next to item "Xbox Identity Provider"

May I know if you have enabled as automatic all Xbox Live Services?

Also, is this happening only on your PC? Are you able to test this on another PC with your account or create a new local user to see how it goes?

Press Windows button and type Services

On Services App from the list of results, press right-click and run it as administrator

Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:

IP Helper

Xbox Live Auth Manager

Xbox Live Game Save

Xbox Live Networking Service

Gaming Services

And do this with each of the services listed above:

Right-click over the service and select Properties.

Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic (if not, change it to automatic)

If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services

Restart your PC

If that doesn't work I'm thinking couple options more:

1. Try running SFC tool to find and repair possible corruptions on your system:

2. If SFC tool doesn't detect corruptions, the best option will be proceed with an in-place upgrade for your system:

3. If the problem is with Java Edition, worth giving it a shot download and install the Launcher marked as Windows 7/8 from this page - https://minecraft.net/download

and try with that launcher

**Uninstall the actual launcher before this step

That's normal, you can't access the old Mojang account after the migration, you need to use the email you used to migrate the Mojang account to, in the launcher you need to select Minecraft Java and then Microsoft login and then use the email you use during the migration process
