minecraft launcher failure

A couple of weeks ago, I migrated my account from Mojang to Microsoft, because of the deadline. I have the Java edition, and have played for years. Migrating was a pain, but once I got through it, it initially seemed to work okay. However, a couple of days ago, I tried to launch, and I could no longer get the Java edition. I went instead to a Microsoft screen that is different. I think maybe it is for the Microsoft Windows version? My games are gone, my resource packs are gone, and I cannot find or load anything as a launcher that will reconnect with them. I can't even find a way to reload and use the resource packs I already have in folders, and use the new launcher to start a new game that has the look and feel I like, without re-buying the packs I already have. As far as I can tell, the new system is set up to require you to purchase resource packs from the Microsoft Store. At this point, I am thinking that Microsoft is making changes that are designed to disconnect "old" Mojang customers, and require, or at least fatigue them into buying everything again. I am not impressed! And, if so, it is actually fraud. Otherwise, if there is some legitimate, non-evil explanation, then, this is my question - if you buy a game that has worked for people problem-free for years, why do you have to screw with it? Meanwhile, is there a way I can get a launcher that will reconnect with the game data I have already been using? Thanks in advance for any good advice, and even more, for a solution.

If this is a minecraft launcher you have to ask the developer to fix their login issues. It's how their software is doing authentication that is causing the failure

We recommend that you make sure that you have downloaded the Minecraft Launcher from the MS Store on your PC. After it is downloaded, please launch it and sign in with the Microsoft Login button and use the Microsoft Account credentials you used when you migrated. Once you are signed in, you should be able to play Minecraft: Java Edition (or any other edition) through the launcher. If you already have the launcher installed when you are experiencing this issue, we recommend signing out of it and back in and seeing if the issue resolves itself.

We also recommend that you take a look at Mojang's Migration FAQ page and see if any information there can help you.

If you have any additional issues with launching Minecraft: Java Edition or your data, we recommend that you contact Mojang Support and submit a support request.

Good morning! No, I think it's safe to say that switching over your account doesn't relate to your ability to install the software--if the problem were your account, you would be able to download the game, but have issues logging in. If you want to test this, you could try logging in from a friend who has Minecraft installed to make sure everything's good there.

That said, we're aware that there's some problems with the newer Minecraft Launcher that rolls both launchers into one (Bedrock and Java launching from the same window), so for now, try installing them separately and let me know how that pans out.

ive now tried to uninstall and reinstall the launcher but when i am in the launcher installer it says "failure to connect to microsoft store"
