Minecraft LAN multiplayer trouble

Hello! I have a question about the local connection of Minecraft bedrock edition.

Around the middle of 2022, I quietly played a local game with my children on 3 devices: 1 PC with a Game pass and 2 iPhones without Microsoft accounts.

However, after purchasing the game from the Microsoft store, the PC no longer sees iPhones in the local game. All conditions for local play meet the requirements, the same network, open network settings, etc.

The connection appears only if you log in using a Microsoft account on another device, but previously you did not need to log into Microsoft accounts to play locally on iPhones.

What could be the problem?

The game was bought on a PC in the Microsoft Store, on iPhones in the App Store

It's possible that the issue is related to changes made to Minecraft's multiplayer system in recent updates. In order to play together on a LAN, all devices need to be running the same version of Minecraft. If the iPhone devices haven't been updated to the latest version, or if the PC version is running an older version, this could cause connection issues.

Another possibility is that the devices are not on the same Wi-Fi network or that there is a firewall or network setting blocking the connection. It's worth checking the Wi-Fi settings and ensuring that all devices are connected to the same network. Additionally, you may need to check the firewall settings on the PC to ensure that Minecraft is allowed to communicate on the network.

Finally, it's worth noting that Microsoft accounts are now required to play online multiplayer in Minecraft. However, LAN play should still be possible without a Microsoft account as long as all devices are on the same network and running the same version of the game.

Make sure you are doing the following:

Multiplayer Options

Minecraft (Bedrock) supports the following multiplayer options:

Locally hosted multiplayer world via LAN or Xbox Live
Realms
Servers (unofficial, third party server software)

Locally hosted multiplayer world via LAN or Xbox Live

Any world can be a locally hosted multiplayer world, and accessible to other
Minecraft players.

To start, create new world or load an existing one. Then, select World Settings (pencil icon) →
Multiplayer → Multiplayer Game. If all players are on the same local network, you may also toggle on
Visible to LAN Players.

Other player(s) can join the world by navigating to the Friends tab and selecting the world.

“Join Multiplayer Games” Settings
If you have your settings set to block joining multiplayer games, you can’t join any multiplayer games in Minecraft, including shared local worlds, Realms or servers. To enable multiplayer in Minecraft, make sure this setting is set to ‘Allow.’

However, just like ASCllnaut, that setting was already turned on for my children. In other words I'm in the same boat, we can play on the LAN but not on a realm.

We have the same problem. We bought the Nimbus SteelSeries controller with Minecraft specifically to set up multiplayer LAN for our kids. They do not use Minecraft on AppleTV, since they cannot join with their siblings using an iOS device.
